An Echo in the Bone (Outlander, #7)

This book doesn’t disappoint in the slightest! It begins with William Grey as narrator and jumps to Lord John Grey and his apprehension for his son to be enlisting as a colonial in the British Army. Then switches to Brianna and Roger and where they now reside in the 20th Century and without giving it away, they return to their “roots so to speak.
This book is told in many narratives and once again Gabaldon is historically accurate as well as a master at weaving the character’s story lines together in more ways than one. Literally held in complete suspense towards the very ending with literally yelling out loud “Wtf!! At certain points since I couldn’t believe how the plot really thickened and she leaves you on pins and needles to the very last word in this novel.
I really loved reading this book and looking up all the historical references such as Benedict Arnold and Major John who conspired with Arnold and ultimately was hung for his conspiring even though it was all for Arnold who betrayed his country and turned to the British side of the war.
The battle of Saratoga was also a very vivid and descriptive part in the novel and learned much more by reading this novel than I ever did listening about the Revolutionary War in history class that’s for sure!!
It’s amazing how we celebrate the signing of the The Declaration of Independence on the 4th of July of 1776 when in reality the fighting continued many years after the sighting (approximately 3) until the war is finally won, something again my history teachers also failed to mention!
I loved every minute of this book and can’t wait to was what happens with all of these characters I’ve grown to love so much and just hope it’s not as another 800-such pages though I know it will be since it would be out of character for Gabaldon

"So far it’s not as great as the previous book but do enjoy reading about Brianna & Roger living in the Fraser/Murray family home in Lallybroch, Scotland over 200 yrs from when her own father lived there. Learning a lot about the Revolutionary War and historical references as well as how the Loyalists and the Wigs were savage at that time period when it came to having a political opinion."

"Still enjoy reading this series and even though there’s more crazy turmoil as usual between Claire and Jamie there’s also a lots of new narrators as well. Lord Grey returns and his son William is interesting to read his perspective as a “Red Coat during the Revolutionary War. He is rescued by Ian which I find interesting and learn more about Ian and his wife and finally finds peace"

"I’m getting thru this book faster than most idk I really like how there’s different narratives so you get the sense of how everything comes full circle Such as the small excerpt about Ian and William and how William repays Ian did saving his life by helping Denny Miller from the Continental army before they hang him"

"Ian finally finds someone he may want to marry only knows it may not be possible bc she’s a Quaker and he a known killer. But Rachel despite her own beliefs, does in fact share his affections only to be ripped away when Ian murdered a mysterious man (alluded to be Percy Lord John Grey’s nemesis so to speak and known spy) tries to blackmail Jamie for something he did back during Coulden"

"Jamie gets his “Bonnie aka printing press back even if he learns it’s been in use all this time and Claire gets an opportunity to write the book that Bri and Roger found in their treasure trunk and the story behind why she wrote such a book is comical to say the least"

"Omg how could Gabaldon do this with less than a 100 pages left in the book?!!! Jemmy kidnapped taken thru the stones with his friend’s father, Cameron who also is Brianna’s co-worker?!! Wtf I mean I know there’s another book after this one but REALLY?!! After over 700 pages I just know I’m gonna be left with another cliff-hanger ending"

"Discouraged to learn that Ian doesn’t reunite with Rachel and yet Claire does which just plain ridiculous since all he had to do was go with Claire and simply be shocked to find Rachel. This is obvious another plot thickener by Diane as usual since now when the Hunters do return to the Continental Army they’ll be leaving Valley Forge and again off to yet another battle"

"Claire successfully completes Henry-Christian’s surgery so Furgus and Marsali will no longer need to worry if he stops breathing when asleep. Denny Henry is engaged to Dottie William’s cousin & Lord Grey’s niece, which is why they originally said they were to be engaged since he is a Quaker who’s fighting against the King’s Army even if only as a surgeon"

Good old Arch Bug makes a sudden appearance Rollo as well as William recognized & if he only knew who Rachel was to Ian... But this will likely not be determined till the next novel of course keeping me in suspense as usual!"

"By FAR the most riveting last chapters of any book by this author So much in so little time and I just can’t keep up with all the diff events that happening at the same time! And with only a few pages left meaning I’ll be left again in suspense as to what will happen to all of them in the next novel"
