really liked it
bookshelves: owned, young-adult

I really like this book. It made me laugh and sad at the same time, (Though there are some boring parts) It's beautiful in some way it has a good message.

Miles reminds me of Charlie of The Perks of Being a Wallflower as he attend Culver Creek Boarding School. Where he explore new things such as drinking and smoking with his new found friends.
The Colonel, Alaska, Lara & Takumi.
I like The Colonel because he is a funny man and he just made me laugh while reading this and of course Miles for being honest to his feelings, I love his essay at the last part.

I pity Alaska. She lived her entire life with guilt, which makes her weak and a coward. I just feel sad for her.

What I learned in this book:
Life is not easy as we say, the problems we encountered are inevitable. We suffer from it that sometimes you just want to give up. Giving up is not a solution. Just be strong enough to deal with it. For sure you'll survive.

I'm looking forward to read another John Green book. :)

Emman Magtibay Very well said. haha. I have to agree, it is indeed a book that can bring smiles and frowns to faces as it is being read. It reminds us of how important our past, our everyday experiences are being a part of our lives; which could result to us being stronger or sadly being fragile. Having regrets in our lives affects how we live in the present, it affects our thinking and just not being able to move on about happenings in life could affect our actions which could result to our own demise. I admire and agree to John Green as he said that the only way out of a labyrinth of suffering is forgiving. Forgiving others and most importantly learning to forgive ourselves, honestly i could not think of a better reason to ease suffering than learning how to forgive.

I could not agree more. What do you think about Alaska?

Emman Magtibay It's sad that she died; but with all honesty if she was real, not a fictitious character in a novel, For someone who's educated, she is rather dumb. I could say she acted rashly and her decisions were merely based on her emotions which resulted to her death, which in fact she could have avoided if only she had not been hard on herself. Lesson: don't be too hard on yourself. it is an inescapable fact of life that pain and suffering is inevitable and no matter how hard we try to avoid it, we really just cant.

Emman Magtibay what do you think of Takumi, personally i admired takuumi in the novel. He was sincere and in situations placed his feet in someone else's shoes but sadly he was not trusted enough. Can you relate to this? haha

Beatrice Takumi is good at keeping secrets like you said, sadly he was not trusted enough. Whatever comes out of his mouth, he's speaking with all honesty regardless of he will hurt someone's feelings or not.

Emman Magtibay i hope they add a like button to comments because your comments deserve one. Book reviewer lng ang peg. haha. I have to remind myself that this is not facebook, but the book was really nice though. Must read. hehe
