Avenger (Halflings, #3)

A special thanks to Netgalley and Zonderkidz-Books for my copy of Avenger.
Avenger starts off basically where Guardian left off. Nikki and her fellow Halflings are trying to lie low. That is until Raven comes back, and wisks Nikki away in an effort to save her life from a creature that was sent to hunt her. While dodging this creature, Nikki manages meeting new friends, and trying to sort out her feelings for the two men in her life, all while trying to come to grips with who and what she is.
The point of veiw in this book jumps around quite a bit. I am not sure that I loved that. We get to hear from Nikki, Raven, Mace, Vine, and Zero. While I like all these characters, it is kind of challenging to jump around to so many different voices. But at the same time we get to see what all these characters are thinking.
There is a good amount of action, there is quite a bit of sorting through feelings, and pining and self-doubting... But all in all, it is a well written book. I was suprised that it is not just a trilogy. I was assuming it was. There is more adventure to be had, and more time to see what happens to Nikki and all the other halflings.
I have enjoyed the Halfling series. I like that it is a more morally influenced angel series than others out there. The relationships are not just insta-attraction, and then lets sleep together. There is more building on friendships and sacrifice which is what love is all about. Thank you Heather Burch and Zonderkidz-Books for publishing a good book... one that i would share with my daughters one day.
