I had so much fun reading this. Beverly is one of the best female characters I have come across in a while. Actually, I can't say who I loved more, her or her mother. I love reading about such strong female characters who are both smart and funny. Their relationship is perfect.
The side characters are pretty great, too. I loved Bev's relationship with her dad, the dynamic between Bev and Michael, her feisty best friend Nancy, and probably my favourite � grumpy Stuart. Loved the banter between him and Bev.
The story is set in 1962 and I really enjoyed the historical and political aspect of it, the Jewish representation, the humor, a bit of romance, and how the life of women was explored when it comes to marriage, parenting and career.

Awww I’m so happy that this had such an amazing female main character, and I love that her mother was so awesome too! I really feel like we should have that in books more often🩷🩷

Lovely review, Snjez! I hadn't been too sure about this one as the only book I have read by this author didn't work too well for me. But I am tempted to give this a go now. Glad you enjoyed it. 😊💗

Oh, sorry I made you look it up! I would have mentioned the name in my comment but I drew a complete blank. I think my head wanted to forget the experience, lol! I'd definitely not recommend that one. This one, I'll keep an eye out for. :D

I always stalk my GR friends' shelves to check if they've read something or which books they've read by an author, so it was no problem at all. 😂 I will stay away from the book you didn't like, the premise also doesn't appeal to me personally, but I'll check out the other two. 😊
Great review Snjez ❤️ strong female characters (particularly in a not-fantasy setting) are amazing to read about. And the whole family dynamics sound so precious!

There's not much romance, it's just a small part of the story. Zero smut. I'll be curious to see what you think of it! 🤞
