I had so much fun reading this. Beverly is one of the best female characters I have come across in a while. Actually, I can't say who I loved more, her or her mother. I love reading about such strong female characters who are both smart and funny. Their relationship is perfect.
The side characters are pretty great, too. I loved Bev's relationship with her dad, the dynamic between Bev and Michael, her feisty best friend Nancy, and probably my favourite grumpy Stuart. Loved the banter between him and Bev.
The story is set in 1962 and I really enjoyed the historical and political aspect of it, the Jewish representation, the humor, a bit of romance, and how the life of women was explored when it comes to marriage, parenting and career.

I agree! Reading about characters like those two felt so refreshing. I'll definitely read more from this author. 😊 Thank you, Imme! 💕

Judging by the blurb, this seems like it was heavily inspired by the TV show The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, it's worth a watch if you haven't yet 🧐

Thank you, Rosh! 💕 I had to check, it was She's Up To no Good? Guess I'll skip that one. 😉 I actually wanted to read For the Love of Friends or Don't Forget to Write first, but this one was nominated for the GR Choice Awards, so I picked it instead. Glad I did. 😊 Fingers crossed if you decide to give it a try!

Thank you, Tamara! 💕 Some reviewers mentioned the show in relation to this book, but I haven't even heard of it. 🙈 I'll check it out. Thank you for the recommendation! 😊

My thoughts exactly! 😀

This one, I'll keep an eye out for. :D

Thank you so much, Pauline! 💕 This book has such positive and uplifting vibes and I absolutely loved Bev's energy. 😊

LOL Don't worry about it! I always stalk my GR friends' shelves to check if they've read something or which books they've read by an author, so it was no problem at all. 😂 I will stay away from the book you didn't like, the premise also doesn't appeal to me personally, but I'll check out the other two. 😊

Exactly! Even more so when the story takes place in the 60's, when women's position in society was so different from today. 🙂 Thank you, Teru! 💕

Make it three. Her friend Nancy is pretty awesome, too. And a few minor female characters. 😅 Thanks so much, Angelika! 💗 This was my first read by this author and there will be more. 😊

Me, too! I'm skipping the one that Rosh didn't enjoy, plus the premise doesn't sound interesting to me, but I'm interested in the other two. 😊 We'll see. 🤞

I don't often read books like this, either - women's fiction, historical with lots of politics. 😉 But I mostly loved it because of the characters. There's not much romance, it's just a small part of the story. Zero smut. I'll be curious to see what you think of it! 🤞

I'm going to give it a go. It's on my Kindle already.

Thank you, Lau! 💗 I hope you enjoy it, if you decide to read it! 😀🤞

Fingers crossed, Dani! 🤞😊

Thank you so much, Nazanin! 😊💗
