Yes! Will smith would have made the perfect Alex Cross! Although if we were going purley on the physical looks then I would say Mr. Perry.

Jamie Foxx for me, you could do the musical elements to his character then which I feel are sadly missing in the Hollywood adaptations. Plus he's a good actor.

Denzel would've been a great pick! But, I agree with Jason I think if we are going by the physical description of Alex Cross in the book Mr. Perry works for me.

Since the books are reportedly very popular, how about an unknown American or British stage and screen actor?
(Is it necessary that Cross be a well-known highly paid American actor?)

I'm sorry but Alex Cross will forever be Morgan Freeman in my mind

Morgan Freeman will always be who comes to mind when I think of Alex Cross. But I think Idris Elba would be a great replacement. He has the body and youth to pull it off. Plus he is not an established American actor. With Tyler, I can't get Medea out of my head.

If you look at the physical description of Alex Cross, he is 6'3", 200 lbs with an athletic build. Tyler Perry fits the build and when you read the books Patterson's description is so clear (at least to me) that he looks like what Perry looks like.

If anyone has read Alex Cross's description properly they will know that he looks very like Muhammed Ali. I was so disappointed to see Morgan Freeman cast in the role. I always thought Dennis Haysbirt would have been perfect.

Morgan Freeman is Alex Cross, thoroughly enjoyed the movie but the book was much better.

I think Jamie Foxx or Will Smith would have made a much better Alex Cross!

As I read this series I picture Alex as Cress Williams, I guess maybe it's because in the show that I recognize him for his personality is somewhat meek like Cross' but tough when he needs to be.
