The days seem to fly by so fast! It's that time again. Start nominating your book reads for May 2009. Nominations close on April 20, 2009 at about 7:00 pm Central Time Zone. Then I'll get the poll set up for voting.

If we end up with a tie we will do a quick one day poll to break the tie like last month! Let the nominations begin!!!

Well that means I'll skip the nomination... and pls get the voting started!!! ^_^

message 9: by Lorena (new)

Lorena (lorenalilian) I loved the Haddon book, I might re-read that if it gets chosen. I've also read the alchemist, liked it would love to discuss; and the Glass Castle, which I didn't like.

message 10: by Shannon (new)

Shannon (sianin) How about The Many Lives & Secret Sorrows of Josephine B.- quite different from the other suggestions, which are both great.

Christina Stind Half of a Yellow Sun

I've already read The Curious incident... and it's a great book but I would like to read something next month that I haven't already read.
I would like to read more by Coetzee and I would like to read The Alchemist so a lot of these choices make me happy!

oooo I just got this trilogy and I'm excited to read it!

message 17: by Kathy (new)

Kathy (marianslibrary) | 51 comments I have the book, Dewey: The Small-Town Library Cat Who Touched the World. I was planning on reading it in May, so I will be voting for that one. Since I'm a librarian and have a cat that looks like Dewey, I was really drawn to the book!
I liked The Curious Incident... and The Glass Castle. Of the 2, The Glass Castle is one of my favorites!

message 18: by Anna (new)

Anna (AnnaPeace) | 4 comments I've just finished "Kicked Out" by Richard W Hardwick and it was the best book I've read in years, even better than Curious Incident, Gods Own Country etc. Its about 16 year old Danny who gets kicked out his home and ends up in a hostel for young people. Hilarious and heartbreaking, I'm recommending it to anyone who'll listen and would like others to love it as much as I did...

message 19: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) well then I nominate Across the Nightingale Floor :P

message 20: by Kandice (new)

Kandice I am going to nominate The Hours since I already promised to read it and that would be 2 birds with one stone! :)

message 21: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) Fiona nominated Shogun because she loved it and wants everyone to read it and enjoy it as well!

It's just a way to get the feeling behind our words across, since we can't hear or see each other;) (that's a wink)

message 23: by Sam (new)

Sam (archieleach9) I'd like to second The Curious Incident... and The Glass Castle.
