Terry ~ Huntress of Erudition Hi!
Time to pick what you want as a group read for August:
(Sorry I am a little late in starting this - I have been crazy busy at work)

Nominations will be open until August 5th.

A poll will be set up on August 6th.

The winner of the poll for the August Group read will be announced on 8/15.

*Also, to be on time for the next month,

Thanks!

Terry ~ Huntress of Erudition Kiss Me First by Lottie Moggach
I thought it would be interesting for a group read because it is about online chat groups.

message 3: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie (notaleatoric) | 2 comments I nominate The Rum Diary, by Hunter S. Thompson; or Water for Elephants by Sarah Gruen. :-)

message 4: by Missy (new)

Missy Letters from Skye by Jessica Brockmole.

message 5: by Doug (new)

Doug (alexchel) And then there were none by Agatha Christie. Hopefully everyone hasn't read that one. My first few choices were already read by Terry. Looks like she's read every book I've ever heard of :)

Hi Doug, I doubt that! It takes me so long to finish a book because I only have time to read during my commute to and from work. Also, I would love to discuss a book I have already read, so feel free to nominate them!

Matthew Bushong I hear people say more and more books are starting out as podcasts or some other means. most of the books are free. does that hurt the Book......some people go by the old saying you get what you payed for,if you don't pay 40 bucks for a book it can't be good.

Annie (louize48) | 291 comments I'm gonna go a bit off the wall this time! One of my favorite SciFi/Fantasy/Comic novelists of substance, who has a bit madcap style, with somewhat unpredictable & strange and/or otherworldly results! ;~.}
Helen and Troy's Epic Road Quest by A. Lee Martinez

This is, author A. Lee Martinez most recent book (in paperback, yay)! Haven't read this book yet...but the rest sure are great FUN!!!

Ben Davenport Some good nomination already and a couple I would definitely like to read!

However I would like to throw this one in the ring: Autumn of the Patriarch The Autumn of the Patriarch by Gabriel García Márquez

I guess people may have read his better known works like One Hundred Years of Solitude and Love in the Time of Cholera (both amazing) but this is described as one of Gabriel Garcia Marquez's most intricate and ambitious works.

Hopefully enough of you can get over the very 1970s cover and pick this one! ;)

Scott | 220 comments 1) Water for Elephants...on my TBR list
2) The Town that Drowned by Riel Nason...on TBR
3) Kiss Me First..sounds interesting Terry.

Debbie I've read Kiss Me First. It does deal with online chats but it delves deeper into suicides and the lives of two women. It's a very different book. Not quite what I expected. It's more like The Other Typist. An interesting read and a VERY good one for discussion.

Hi Scott,
This thread was open until Aug. 5th and I posted a Poll for people to vote on Aug. 6th. Sorry I missed your nominations - I will try to add them to this poll, but if I can't, they will be added to the next month's poll.
