If you can't find anything more than the year, it won't work for the task - sorry.
And, thanks! I'm really looking forward to some time away from work!

If anyone likes science, the only "Dog" author I was able to find was Neil deGrasse Tyson. I think "Dog" is a hard one. Haha. But I do like his writings.

Fantastic Fiction has a which is really helpful. Careful... not all of them work, but it'll give you some people to research further...

This WAS a challenge, but I did find a few authors:
Stephen King, Paulo Coelho, Kiran Desai, Jonathan Franzen, and Jeannette Walls.
ETA - And a couple more, thanks to Kristi's help above: Paul Auster and James Patterson
I thought this was so interesting I never knew much a about the Chinese zodiac, I also found this (just because I thought it was interesting!)
"In Chinese astrology the animal signs assigned by year represent what others perceive you as being or how you present yourself. It is a common misconception that the animals assigned by year are the only signs and many western descriptions of Chinese astrology draw solely on this system. In fact, there are also animal signs assigned by month (called inner animals), by day (called true animals) and hours (called secret animals).
While a person might appear to be a Dragon because they were born in the year of the Dragon, they might also be a Snake internally, an Ox truly, and a Goat secretively."

I am a pig too!!! And this has been a challenge :( I am about ready to skip this task as I can't seem to find the actual date of birth. I have spent a couple of hours now and so far managed to come up with one that I am actually interested in or can get a book without having to buy it LOL

I looked for her birthday too Chaitra and have yet to find it any where :( It's a shame we can't just use the year LOL

Try Googling the author's name + the word "birthdate." Wikipedia is often a good source, too. Otherwise, the exact date is likely unavailable (i.e., Gillian Flynn).

I'm sorry, but we're sticking with the general rule that if there is info on GR, we're going to use that. Perhaps he's trying to make himself younger ;). At any rate, he's a GR author, so I think we need to assume that he (or his publicists) have put the bio info here that they wish to have used.

Good detective work! This works to show him as a Rooster. Please be sure to note this approval when you post the completed task, so Kristi doesn't have to re-think it.

Chinese astrology signs are based on the year of birth and are associated with animals. Read a book by an author who shares your animal sign.
Go to Enter your birthdate and you’ll find your zodiac animal sign. Then click on more info and you’ll find a list of dates for that sign. NOTE: The chart at this site only lists birthdates back to 1902. You can find a list from 1645 to 1899
For more help, see the Help Thread From Fall 2009.
REQUIRED: Include in your post the zodiac sign that you and the author share and the author's date of birth.
NOTE: The years for these signs do not run from January 1 to December 31. They generally start at some point in January or February - so be careful if you're looking at an author with a birthday in those months. There are some errors in the 2009 help thread, because of not taking this into account.
