Please answer the questions and (hopefully) we are all chatty booknerds. Because those are my type of people.
Let's just list random stuff about us, what we are reading and until the challenge starts keep chatting. Because when the challenge starts I *hope we are all reading and yeah.

Also, I would like no talk wars about how this book sucked and this book was amazing and not stupid and bla bla. Okay? I personally hate Grave Mercy by Robin LaFevers with a fiery passion. Don't murder me. Okay no "you thought that book was bad it was the best book ever" or "you thought that book was good it was the worst book ever"
If I see any of that I will be telling a mod.
No cursing and bullying. If I see a curse a mod will be notified. If I see bullying I will decide whether Mod or Flag. Anyone and everyone has the rights to do everything I said in this paragraph.

And hello Team Athena! I am hoping for a chatty team, because the mountain of books I have to read is just not quite high enough already. :)

My get to know me questions:
1. I'm guessing 20? I usually finish about 6-7/month, but I also tend to get a weeee bit competitive in these things, so I push to read a bit more.
2. Watchers and Phantoms by Dean Koontz, The Deal, the Kate Daniels series, and pretty much anything Nalini Singh writes.
3. Rourke. That's all.

And showing my age: I know what gifs are, but no idea how to make one, Pearl Jam is my favorite band, and I cannot stand Come on Eileen as I heard it played 1 million times as a young adult. :)

I'm reading My Lady Quicksilver right now. Great series. Mixture of steampunk and vampires/werewolves.

I hope you enjoy the challenge. We still have almost 3 weeks till start date, but since these things tend to get a lot of preparation, we're trying to work all details out of the way till there.

OK people I think it would be a good idea to share tips for reading faster. You don't have to do it now, but hopefully we'll get a lot. For example I read way more books with a flat out TBR. Like this:

Abinormal I cant do a schedule, I am a spur of the moment type of girl. I really, really try to do my book club books...but then that shelf over to the left is throwing books at me...and the shelf to the right is wiggling its spine at me....so hard to control the temptations...

megan | 1477 comments I have a general idea of what I want to read but it all depends on what I am in the mood for. Kindle Unlimited is the biggest reason I get pulled away from the To Be Read list.

Abinormal Uggg... I know family tends to bring my speed down too. I spent all of Thursday night at school, my daughter had her induction ceremony to the National Junior Honor Society, we didn't get home till 10:30 that night...no reading at all for me

My eldest takes up a lot of my time, we have had a lot of teacher meetings already this year ugggh

I love Mondays DH and the boys all have cub scouts and I have a blissful evening for reading and the food I like and they don't.

Yes, she is a smart girl, she is 13 and already talking college. she currently has a 4.1 gpa, and is taking 2 high school classes this year. She keeps me busy, as she is in the School Orchestra, and she volunteers at a Tutor on Fridays....and about a million other things.

My son is smart but has a ton of problems including ASD and ADHD so he is brilliant at whatever interests him and doesn't even try if it doesn't. He does love to read and reads way above his age.

Abinormal That is what happens when we get them started early, I don't think a lot parents these days emphasize reading enough. I taught her before she went to school, and she has been ahead ever since.

4. You fiend made me go to my gif holder, It is almost as bad as tvtropes. No idea how to post those pictures here though.

Favorite band: Just ONE? I refuse! Katzenjammer, Indica, Sonata arctica, Queen. That is enough for now.

Least favorite song: Peto on irti. It was a hit in my sisters wedding party. Everybody was reguesting it and i suffered silently. Add to insult when i was going to sleep i could hear them playing bands i actually liked. So unfair.

I had to take a break from GR a couple of months ago (had to slow my reading down due to RL) but I'm reading a book a week, I'm hoping to get back to my former reading speed during this TT challenge. Also, I recently went to a book fair and bought an excessive amount of books so definitely time to get back to it.

I don't have a particular favourite band, my taste in music vary depending on my mood. At this moment I will go with Daft Punk, Enya and Eurythmics.

I'm currently reading Mortal Arts (Lady Darby, #2) by Anna Lee Huber and E Squared by Matt Beaumont . Looking forward sharing and discussing books with you all.

Apologies for me taking so long to reply, I was away for my anniversary over the weekend and then took an extended Computer break for the beginning of the week...

I know I replied to Rebecca in the message before I found this thread, but I'll answer here too!
1.As many as I can, I'm not very good at schedules I read when I can, and what I fancy.
2. I love a lot of books, and I'm not dead set on 'favs' as I'm not very good at keeping track. I loved Mortal instruments, The Iron Fey and Mythos Academy.
3. Again picking one book boyfriend is very hard, Jace from Mortal instruments was my no.1 but then I read Iron Fey and now I'm also in love with Ash.

For the rest of the questions. I don't have fav bands, I like popular music, and so I just tend to dance to my radio, although I am in love with Taylor Swift, but she isn't a band so I guess The Script.

I don't do GIFs, I laugh at them. I just can't seem to use them.

Least favourite song. Umm... mostly anything by Take That. Anything by Jay-z and Kayne on principle...

Just a note about me, I work 12 hour shifts 4 days and then I'm off for 4 days. I rotate between days and nights, so right now I'm on my 1st day of 4 day shifts. And then next Friday I shall be on nights... Meaning I miss Halloween (YAY :-) ). Basically I try and review or post reviews during my four days on as motivating myself to use my laptop after 4 x 12 hours is just plain hard.

I'm also from England so I shall be going under the GMT time zone. Just in case anyone wants to know!! :)

Just wanted to ask if everyone has seen the goal spreadsheet that is up on one of the threads, think its the main thread. I've been gathering books in mind for some of those goals I'm not sure if one team can do the same goal multiple times, such as if I do one goal and then someone else does the same one in our team. I'm a little confused on that but I'm pretty sure if we can't do that we can match the books to any other goal - there are about 1000 of them so I'm sure we will be okay!!

My shelf name is Tower Team as this is my first shelf and I didn't know what to name it at first! :-) My over organisation means I have shelved 18 books already in preparation... May change if I cannot wait and I read some of course...

Only one book per goal. Meaning, once you mark it as complete, the randomizer will assign another one for your team.

Don't stress too much about the goals... there is no way of predicting which ones we will get at a given time, so, read what you enjoy most, and eventually, you will be able to apply that book.

megan | 1477 comments I have a spreadsheet! It's color coded and I have equations for pages to read and how many books I have left to complete my challenge vs. the time left to complete them. I factor in when I won't be able to read because of travel or other plans, so I can maximize if needed. I even programmed buttons to link to my ŷ team pages to submit point totals. So, I understand the need to keep book related thing organized!
I've been going through my book lists as well and compared them to the goals - yes, in my spreadsheet - and have the books I want to read listed next to several goals they will work for, in case the goals are already taken.

Maybe we just need to claim goals or just let Rebecca take care of it :oP

I will for sure be reading Six of Crows and Pretty Girls next month.

Not stressing, just over preparing. I'm using this challenge as an excuse to buy more books. So does this mean that if I read a book and after that a goal that suits that book comes up can I then apply even though I read that book before the goal came up? Sorry if that doesn't make sense.

Wow that is amazing!! I have a spreadsheet that I just merely write down the book I read, who by, gender they were, when I started - when I finished, how many pages, what format I read the book in, what nationality the author was and how many stars I gave it. I am so impressed, I may have to adopt this method...

I have to read Shatter Me & The Iron Traitor they have been hanging around for too long.

Can't wait for the challenge to start :) This is my second TT challenge and honestly I really love all the challenges in this group but this one is my favourite. I think the Mods are doing an amazing job organizing and improving these challenges.

I don't plan my reading but I did create a shelf for all the books that need priority for some kind of reason. Especially continuing series is one of things I need to work on during TT. Btw the picks for the BOM's are looking great.

Fall is my favourite season so we made a long walk in the forest and the colours are beautiful. Hope you all had a lovely weekend too!

Sorry for taking a couple of days to reply.. I was stupid and replied to the message we were sent, not the thread (I'm so sorry, I'm ill, please forgive me!)

Depending on how busy I am / how big or difficult the books are, I can usually get 3 - 5 read in a busy month and more if I am on holidays etc.

The books that will always get me out of a book hangover are the Harry Potter books!

I generally don't have book 'boyfriends' I have favourite characters instead. My favourite male characters atm are - Ron from Harry Potter, Jem from TID and Chaol from TOG.

I'm currently reading 'Clockwork Angel' by Cassandra Clare but am planning on starting 'Days of Blood and Starlight' by Lani Taylor and 'Slade House' by David Mitchell as my Halloween read this week.

I'm really excited to get started! I promise I will be much more active on the thread now I know where it is!

Hey Rebecca - just stopping by and noticed your post. Can I suggest you have a chat to Sonia about this in the captains group?
Our teams are balanced with a mixture of slower and faster readers so there is no expectation that everyone on a team can read at the same pace and so assigning points for people to achieve doesn't really work for Tower Teams.
If you want to have your own optional mini-challenges in your group that is a good way to motivate reading and we often have captains making some up (scavenger hunts, monopoly etc.). Probably worth throwing around some ideas with Sonia and see what your team thinks!

For TOWER TEAMS we're making The Child Thief by Brom (November's Adult Sci-Fi/Fantasy BOM) an exception.

Meaning, we are granting the page points, participating in discussion points, and DQ's points, as long as you finish the book after the starting date
