Unless Nora Roberts comes up with a new series that will sell loads, then no end in sight. I read the 1st book, it's quite engaging! Very readable.

Rebecca (rebeccaemma) | 85 comments Hiya!

I'm Bec, I'm 29 (30 at the end of July. Eeek!) and I'm from the Gold Coast in QLD Australia. I work full time and have three kids, a husband and a three legged dog called Jasper.

I commute to work on the train approx 1 hr each way - so two hours travel time per day. It takes a similar time to drive. This pretty much makes up the bulk of my reading time. Or audio book time when I drive!

I probably get through a book every five days on average. Pretty confident that I will be able to meet the challenge requirements - but a bit nervous that I will be one of your slower readers!

Ange (bentleyrise) | 484 comments Hi Karisma and Bec

Karisma I've only done one challenge before and never for as long as this.

Bec, I have a dog too. How did your dog lose its leg?

Aww love the dog name Bec - my old boy was a Jasper.

This be the first pup I want when I can finally get one.

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2305 comments I'm reading Witchlight and so far I've got 3 shapeshifters, an animal on the cover, and do i include the animals they shift to in counting for points?

message 72: by Ange (new)

Ange (bentleyrise) | 484 comments Not sure Kat that might be a question for the pre challenge thread.

I read 9 hours of my book yesterday that's gotta be some kind of record for me. I'm not feeling great and spent most of it in bed. Still got 4 hours to go but that's doable now. I wasn't sure I was going to finish it in time for the first challenge. Will try to keep wobble books to 300 pages max I think.

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2305 comments What book is that Ange? I think some challenges for Wobble would give us better scoring pts if we keep it below at 300 because some are goal oriented, but I think there'sa challenge where pts are dependent on book page. Haha YA books, paranormal and chicklit are best for challenges. Easy fast reads that almost always meets a goal. lol

Hope you feel better soon Ange! Rest up :)

Nikki the Sapphired Book Dragon AKA NixieNut (sapphireddragon) | 1397 comments Kathleen, I would think that if you include them as a character then they are already counted and the animal mention points are for other animals that aren't actually characters as well. At least that is my take on it. Is that what you meant?

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2305 comments Thanks Nikk!

Outlander 2 - I dont like it as much as the first one but will still continue with the series at some point . Almost finished!

message 83: by Ashley (new)

Ashley | 1439 comments Hi Karishma - sorry missed your question! I'll check and get back to you.

I can't believe that I actually read it!! It was on my TBR for so long and I thought that I've never get to it. I'm hoping to continue the series...I just need it to be part of a group read so I get stuck into it.

I haven't seen the Outlander series. Has anyone watched it?

Yes shapeshifters count. Here is Karen's example;
Land animals in the book as characters (Derek-wolf, Curran-lion, Jim - Jaguar, Andrea - Hyena, Barabas - Mongoose): 50 points

In preparation for starting the official challenge this week please read the standard rules on the first page of this thread and make sure you understand them.

These rules apply to all challenges so if you have any questions then please start asking in this thread!

Can you all post what your reading shelf for this challenge will be?

I've gone with the very exciting "wobble" as my shelf name!

message 86: by ~~~N~~~ (last edited Jun 12, 2016 05:01PM) (new)

~~~N~~~ (chocolate-cannibal-bunnies) | 616 comments Hello! So sorry I've been absent. Honestly, I got the dates on this challenge a bit mixed up with another. It's nice to meet everyone and I'm looking forward to WOBBLE! I'm still sort of new to reading challenges but I've had tons of fun with the few I've done so far.
My shelf name is wobble-2016 (I know, I'm the epitome of creative titles :P). My name is Noa and I live on the Northern Mariana Islands. Originally I'm from Sydney, and right now I'm attending an American college. I'm getting a nursing degree, but just got on break a week ago. Usually I'm working and juggling a ton of classes, but I'm going to be visiting family soon so I'm off from my job and finals are over.
I see it's already marked as having been read by another, but I've read Miss Mayhem. Let me look through the books I've read within the specified time period, but I'm sure I have some stuff that counts for the mini challenge. My favourite genres are currently Fantasy (every epic is a balm to my soul) and MM romances (sweet, heartbreaking, or smutty, I'm a bit of a romance junky). I used to read almost strictly YA, and then almost strictly Adult Romance, but I seem to change genres every other year. I will still read almost everything and I always love a good Thriller of Crime novel.
Anyways, sorry for the long intro! I hope to get to know everyone well :)
B. description Kimberly & Elspeth
C. description Karishma
D. description Nikk & Kathleen
Ashley | 1439 comments Hi Noa! Glad you have joined us :)
What an interesting place to live - I actually had to google it as I haven't heard of it before.
I'm glad that you love romance novels. I don't so I know I could palm that genre off to you if it comes up ;)
I feel like everyone has read this Magic Breaks series. What is it?? Am I missing out!?
message 90: by ~~~N~~~ (last edited Jun 12, 2016 05:02PM) (new)
~~~N~~~ (chocolate-cannibal-bunnies) | 616 comments I've been trying to get a bunch of short reads I've come across out of the way since I just finished a challenge with a page minimum and this challenge has one too. That means the only book I have that counts is Soul Struck (The Warlock Brothers of Havenbridge, #3) by Jacob Z. Flores . As characters: 5. As mentions: 5.

Ashley | 1439 comments Karishma wrote: "In the book i read darkhouse there is a preview chapter for the next book. The mention of land animals is in the preview, will that do?"

Previews don't count

message 92: by Ashley (new)

Ashley | 1439 comments Thanks Noa - better to get the short ones out of the way now :)

Nikki the Sapphired Book Dragon AKA NixieNut (sapphireddragon) | 1397 comments I have gone with the exciting name of wobble-shelf Yes I too am ever so creatibe :-P

I vote for D. for the captain posts - cute but stands out :-)

I have only read the first in the magic breaks series as I have also heard a lot fo people raving about the series and I actually read it as part of another challenge. Its got shifters in it which is great for this challenge i gues and also magic etc Whilst i liked it, it took me a while to get through despite its smaller page count and I will probably read the series but i am not in any hurry.

Ashley, I vaguely recall from TTIV that you and I seemed to have a similar reading taste

Welcome Noa, its nice to meet you :-)

message 94: by ~~~N~~~ (new)

~~~N~~~ (chocolate-cannibal-bunnies) | 616 comments The NMI is definitely interesting, beautiful, small, and generally unknown. I lived here for a couple of years when I was 7 and moved back when I was 13, so it's sort of a second home.
I'd be happy to read any romance novels we'll need in basically any subgenre. :3
Magic Breaks is part of the Kate Daniels series. It's a very good, interesting fantasy world set in a dystopian Atlanta. It's Urban Fantasy with some romance and a lot of family drama. It has good mystery and mythology themes going on as well. Personally, I like it because I'm really interested in mythology (and it's integrated well with the world), the writing is pretty good, and the secondary characters are strong. If any of that gets your attention, I'd suggest the series. It's also written by a husband-wife team, so that makes it interesting. (I tend to like books with co-authors).
message 95: by Ange (new)
Ange (bentleyrise) | 484 comments Ashley I havent seen the outlander series either but my parents both love it. Its on my to watch list but unfortunately that is as long as my to be read list haha.
My shelf is called "wobble" too and I like "A" although happy with any of them.
Hi Noa, I also had to google where you are from. Wow it looks amazing, so beautiful.
Have we all checked in now?
message 96: by Ange (new)
Ange (bentleyrise) | 484 comments Just checked looks like we are waiting on a few more teamies. Should we send them a pm seeing as the challenge starts very shortly?
message 97: by Ange (new)
Ange (bentleyrise) | 484 comments I do love me some Gandalf :) I really want to read The Name of the Wind. I follow all Rothfuss' reviews on GR.
message 98: by ~~~N~~~ (new)
~~~N~~~ (chocolate-cannibal-bunnies) | 616 comments I started The Name of The Wind last month, but I stopped at a bit over 10%. I was loving it, but I unwisely started it around my finals. I should actually pick it back up now that I have some spare time. Have you read The Left Hand of God?

message 99: by ~~~N~~~ (new)

~~~N~~~ (chocolate-cannibal-bunnies) | 616 comments I liked the trilogy a lot, and a suggestion from that to Rothfuss is what made me start The Name of the Wind when I did.
message 100: by Kimberly (new)
Kimberly (poweki) | 1713 comments I LOVED Name of the Wind. One of the very best audiobooks I have ever listened to.
Rothfuss' prose is so lyrical. He's a genius. I'll definitely listen to it again. The Slow Regard of Silent Things and The Wise Man's Fear were good but could not top Name of the Wind.
My shelf is also called Wobble and I like "B" best as an attention grabber. But any of them will be fine with me. I like the idea of having a flag since I can only check in once a day at the most.
