I would like to sign up to do this challenge. Can we just do a few of them?1. Read a book with a character that has the same first name as you.
2. Read a book that was written the same year you were born.

Laura - I am no 'femme fatale' :P, but I'm sure this is going to be a great read.

A Wizard of Earthsea - year 1968
This book is in my TBR and the '1001 books to read before you die' shelf.

My spiritual home is the South of France where my roots are. We did live a long time in Paris when I was young so Paris it is:

I've been living in Scotland for more than 20 years -
Outlander - Some of the scenes for the TV series have been filmed not far from where I live in Doune castle. I am quite looking forward to reading the books!
5. Read a book with a character that has the same occupation as you. I am a language teacher - I don't usually like reading about teaching or teachers. Reading is a bit of an escape for me, so reminders of the day job are not usually welcome! I do ove my job though but I have enough of it during the day. ;P

Alright guys, I just got off of vacation, so bear with me. I should be able to be on here almost daily now. Summer craziness is ending. :) I will do the challenge too. I will aim for five.
1. Book with a character that has the same occupation as me- The Kite Runner (Amir is a writer)
2. Character with the same hair/eye color as me- The Child Thief (Nick has brown hair and brown eyes)
3. Book with character that has the same number of children as me- The Wild Things (Max's mom has 2 kids)
4. Book with a character that has the same interests as me- You're Never Weird on the Internet (Felicia Day has the same nerd interests I do)

I feel like my whole entire summer has been weak reading for me. Don't feel too pressured though. We are in this because books are cool, and we all need a little more coolness in our lives :)
Ok update to post 2. I am going to try for 4, if I get 4 done I will do more but 4 to start.

A World Without Princes - it's set at a school of sorts, so there are many characters who are teachers like me.
I would like to aim for three please. If I can manage more I will post them. I have a lot planned for this month.

I'm not really sure why the extra credit are a separate category, but I'm assuming they count the same as any of the other categories.1. Read a book with a character that has the same first name as you.

Just completed #1 (character w/ same name) - The Scam by Janet Evanovich. Good audiobook for the car ride! Easy and fun - love the peripheral characters! Worth reading. 3.5 stars1/5
I just finished my first book in this challenge. The categories are much harder than I thought they would be. I read "The Kite Runner" by Khaled Housseini. The main character is a writer like me (although I hope I am not nearly as selfish as he is). It was a decent book. 3 stars.
Update to post 2. I just finished my 1st out of 4. My Sunshine Away. Good book. Dragged on in parts but worth the read. The narrator and I are the same age. One of the things I really liked was him recounting big news events from our childhood.
Just completed #10 (same number of children - 0) - The Winner's Kiss by Marie Rutkoski. I really enjoyed the finale of this series. The author took the story into interesting, unexpected paths, but kept true to the characters. Definitely worth reading! 4 stars2/5

Slight change of plans for this challenge, as I've set myself the personal goal of re-reading all the Harry Potter books during these last weeks of September.I was planning on reading a book set in my home town for this prompt, but instead I'm going for the country I grew up in. Also, even more tenuous, but I feel like I can say I grew up at Hogwarts. Read the first HP at age 9 and the last at age 17. Did a lot of growing up in those years!

I'm pretty new to Gaiman; read The Ocean at the End of the Lane last year and haven't been able to get enough since. I haven't listened to any audiobooks yet but was planning on listening to his Graveyard Book next month. I hope you enjoy it when you get to it - I might have to check out the audio as well. It's def a read (listen) again type of book imo.

I highly recommend you check it out). It is my goal to read 2 Neil Gaiman books a year until I get through them all. I will be branching to Terry Pratchett next year as well. Glad you liked "Neverwhere" so much. You have sold me on that one as one of my Gaiman stories for next year :)

I've been wanting to get to Terry Pratchett as well, Discworld has been patiently sitting in my TBR since I read Good Omens. Diving into Pratchett would probably make for a really fun personal challenge in the new year.

Just completed #6 (same age - 34) - Evicted: Poverty and Profit in the American City by Matthew Desmond. One of the tenants is my age but a very different life. The writing is excellent, and I loved the storytelling way that the author used to convey the information! The subject matter was difficult, particularly in my profession. Definitely worth reading! 4.5 stars3/5
I've reached my goal of three, but I'll see if I can fit in any more with the books I have remaining for this month.
