Mark (willey) | 10 comments Rashkolnikov is not a carefree murderer. It is possible that had he only killed the wicked pawn-broker he might have felt differently and cashed in the lucre. The accidental murder of Lizaveta makes his actions a crime in his own eyes as well as the eyes of the world. His not spending the loot does not make him less guilty.

That's an interesting observation. Do you think this book would have gone a lot differently if he only killed the pawn-broker?

Mark (willey) | 10 comments Yes, but then there may not have been a book, teehee.
