Laurie Valerie wrote: "Question- does poetry count for the 800s? I just read a poetry collection and then realized it's in the 800s (811) but wasn't sure if that is really fiction/non-fiction."

Poetry isn't shelved with fiction in libraries but with non-fiction just as plays are. I would think if the library classifies it in the 800s, then you can too.

If you need, works pretty well to classify books, just type in a title and it'll give you the most likely Dewey code!

Gini | 40 comments Just started on James Knowlson"s Damned to Fame: The Life of Samuel Beckett (848.91409) for the 800 series line. I had read several of Beckett's works just to see if I could. I could, but I now see that I missed a lot in reading them, to include the author himself.
So, I intend to revisit some of what I'd read in the near future.
It seems knowing at least a bit about an author is a good thing.
