I second Americanah by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. I'm reading it for a different prompt, but it's on my 2017 list.
Seconding Lagoon by Nnedi Okorafor, it's on my TBR and I was going to use it for this prompt, but I loved Americanah and would be happy to reread it also.
