I am super excited for the challenge to start! This is my first time being captain but definitely not my first team challenge so it should be fun!
I am terrible with introductions but here is a little bit of information about me. I am an elementary school teacher in the Pacific Northwest (US) and chose this career because of my love for reading! My cat enjoys my constant need to have a book and a blanket around for the cuddle factor (my boyfriend enjoys that I leave him alone to play video games!)
My favorite books are

I am currently doing a self imposed challenge to wrap-up 3 unfinished series reads a month. This came about after I looked at my TBR and Read lists and realized I have more than 80 series that I had just abandoned midway, not because they were bad but because I am a binge reader and forget about books when waiting for new ones to be published.
Please check-in here with a little bit of an intro so that I can make sure everyone is ready to go for the challenge.
And May the 4th come quickly! (I couldn't resist the pun...they are just to easy). Look for messages and updates as we get closer to the start date.

My son turns 4 today so I am up to my eyeballs in Thomas the Train at the moment. We are building railways to celebrate. On weekends I sell Children's Books at the Flea Market. Goal: To open a children's bookstore. My favorite genre is fantasy, I do find I can also enjoy a bit of historical fiction.
I am a team captain on one of the UNO teams and we are finishing up April. I have never played Tower Teams before but I am quite excited to "...use the force..."
Happy Reading
L.

I am Teresa Scott, a middle school principal and teacher in Maryland. I am married to a retired teacher and have a daughter who will turn 40 this year. I love to read and enjoy almost all the genres, except science fiction. I just love a story with a good plot and great characters. My favorite genre would be cozy mysteries. I am an avid knitter and sewer. This is my second Tower challenge. I am so excited to begin.

I am Rosina Peach and I live in the province of Alberta in Canada. I love it here in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. I work for an accounting firm and I do bookkeeping for charities and non profit organizations. I work from home but I am out to clients about 3 days a week. This is the last two weeks of personal income tax - so it is crunch time to get the returns submitted.
I have a lot of books on my shelves and on my ereader. I read just about any genre. I do tend to really enjoy historical novels. I tend to go in phases with my reading choices. I also enjoy urban fantasy, romance, mysteries. Ultimately I love words and how authors construct a story, so if it is well done and keeps my attention I will read it. I tend to gravitate to English authors. Discovered Elly Griffths last year and love her series. I think I am only one behind in the series. Which is a first for me as I tend to start a series and then forget about it when something else attracts me.
I am married and we have 3 children and 8 grand children. Recently we got 2 kittens after years of no pets. They are such a joy to have around and cuddle.

I am an RN, working full time in a long term care/short term rehab facility. I'm married, for almost 25 yrs, with two teenagers. A son 17 and a daughter 15. The teen years have definitely been an experience .....that isn't done yet. We have a rescue dog which is a sweet dachshund mix - Shelby who is really my husbands dog. I really think she adopted him rather than us adopting her, lol.
@Leah ~ I remember the Thomas the Train time well. They have a Day out with Thomas at a railway close to us that we went to two or three times when our son was little. I also remember my husband frequently 'cleaning' the Thomas table and putting all the tracks back together only to have my son 'fix' it to his liking, lol.
I'm super excited for this to start. I have't participated in Tower Teams for a while but I'm definitely not new to team challenges. I'm a bit addicted. I'm currently in a year long team challenge in the MM group. Bingo MM team challenge is about to start. I'm in another Bingo team challenge in SOS group and another team Challenge in Romance Readers group I'm in.
Outside of reading I enjoy cooking when I have time. I can read a cookbook the same as reading a book. I have files full of recipes I'd like to try. Reading keeps me sane. I have to read before bed at least ten minutes. I always have something loaded on my phone for when I can slip in a few minutes of reading. I listen to audios on my way to and from work and sometimes when running errands - which can be tricky if my daughter is in the car with me....especially if a sex scene seems to be coming up. I usually shut it off and then she questions me/...but if I don't get to it in time and they start kissing then shes like 'mom (*whines*) why do they have to do this...so gross' I just laugh because how things will quickly change, lol. I read both MF and MM (no MM when my daughter is in the car - only MF then). I started my MM reading with the Cut & Run series by doing a buddy read with a few other new to MM readers in the TCF group. It is an awesome series that I'm planning to do a 're-read' on audio soon. Genres I enjoy are romance, thrillers, romantic suspense, mysteries, Paranormal and UF with maybe a toe in science fiction but it would really be my pinky toe. I don't really read biker books, historicals or YA/NA but there are a few authors that I enjoy but they are far and few between. The YA/NA thing has kicked in more since my kids have become high schoolers. I'm making my way through the Harry Dresden series, the Eve/Roarke series, Experiment in Terror series along with several others.

Hey Rosina! It has been a while. Your in laws family are about an hour south (and slightly west) of me. We are having a week of clouds but I'll take that vs a week of rain, lol. It is supposed to reach 70 today. So no complaints. I have an aunt and cousins in North Vancouver, BC :)

I already know Rosina and Shy. Hope to get along with the rest of the crew as well :)
Also, I'm really envious of all who own pets here. I only have three potted plants (which is all I can manage at present), but I have hopes of adopting a dog sometime in the future.

Thanks for this ~ I'll have to check these out.

I currently live in NYC , with my husband and 4 year old. I like to read, work, and spend my days with my daughter. I suck at introducing myself lol.

I'm mod in charge for light side movies. If you need me for something, I'm hiding over in Return of the Jedi team.
Hope you'll have fun and read some good books.

Sorry I'm so late to say hi, actually I was a day early and had some trouble getting into the captain's group (I'm the co-captain)
When I finally had that straightened out I noticed a post about all group members checking in :-/ Typical... LOL
As it is just about half past five in the morning here (Northern Europe) I just wanted to hurry in here and say I'm sort of present :-)
Will introduce myself properly when I wake up.

My name is Charlotte and I live with my two cats in a little house in the capital of Denmark, Copenhagen. I am lucky enough to also have gardens both front and back, although they, like the house, are smaller then usual here.
These last months I've been here on GR rather a lot - if I'm really honest probably several hours a day... I guess I must admit to being an addict :-)
I own a LOT of books, and have only recently returned most of my 200 library books... But these days I only do audiobooks, although I don't feel it's the same as reading. I actually feel it to be so different that I listen to a lot of books I previously have read.
I cover a lot of genres; fantasy, horror, sci-fi, mystery, crime, thriller and the different sub-genres like cosy mystery and paranormal romance. I have started to read some non-paranormal romances, but can't really understand why they seem to have such a focus on sex. :-/ Also MM romances are really a conundrum to me. They seem to be enormously popular, but I don't understand why it is important that that the characters have the same gender -and why not FF then?? It really mystifies me :-)
I noticed that some of you like them, maybe you can give me a better understanding.
Anyway, some of my favorites series from different genres are Discworld, Dresden Files and Grant County. I also dive into a lot of fact books, philosophy, history, science and a whole lot of other stuff.
When I'm not on GR I like to watch a wide array of series, mostly on the internet. Since last year when I decided to teach myself to crochet that have also been a strong habit, often exhibited while watching the aforementioned series :-D
I think that was all for now, didn't think I would be able to write very much, but the page filled anyway :-) Please ask if you have any questions.
I have one myself - Melissa, what is a RN?
Ps, I have never heard of a Thomas the Train :-)

RN - fancy abbreviation for a nurse ~ Registered Nurse (RN)

So hi! A little about me for those that don't know me...
I'm 35 (but still get carded everywhere I go - no one ever believes me when I tell them my age, I'm NOT complaining. :D) and a film producer living in Los Angeles. I own my own film production company, but bartend in between projects to pay the bills. Thus the bottle breaking in my hand thing. I'll read anything and everything I can get my hands on. I still very much enjoy reading MM but after a couple years of really reading nothing but I've pushed myself this year to expand my horizons again and read more evenly. So I'm probably somewhere in the 60/40 or 70/30 realm with my MM to MF reading at this point. I'm finding it quite satisfying.
I'm a huge dork whose favorite shows are Doctor Who & Sherlock and am more happy sitting at home with a good book than dealing with people on any day. My schedule is insane, but I still make time to check into GR as often as possible and well living by myself and working nights means I'm often on here at very strange hours. :)
I just wanted to wave a big hi to Chelsea and Karen - I'm a bit jealous you guys. I grew up in WA and still consider it home. I miss it tons! Supposed to get to make a trip home in June for my best friends wedding and I can't wait!

As to why I tend to stick to MM - well I am a heterosexual female, and frankly I don't even like reading the female side of things in MF romance. So while I don't mind reading about 2 men in a sexual situation, I don't know that I'd enjoy the 2 female as I don't really enjoy the female side in MF sex scenes. But I have wanted to challenge myself to read a FF book and see how I feel about it. I'll probably lean towards trying something YA first since there's less likely to be the sex on page aspect.

Hey everyone, if you could send me your shelf for the challenge, that would be great. You can do it here or private message me. I will put them in one of the sticky posts so that they are all in one place.
