David Brian (davidbrian) I'm up to chapter eight, and I have to say it's a very smooth read. I love the whole family dynamic, though I'm guessing we'll see some shifts in standing as the action progresses.
It's good stuff, Hunter.

Hunter Shea | 63 comments Thanks for sticking with me this far! :) After all the monster books I've done the past few years, I wanted to dial things back and really examine a broken American family that's bonded with a tarnished kind of love. Things do change for the poor Ridleys, though. Get ready.

Latasha (latasha513) I'm half way through chapter 10 and still liking it very much.

The first thing I noticed was the "different" tone of this book. I have to say though, that it is one of my top contenders for "2017 Books of the Year". The characterization was superb!

D20 | 173 comments I have to say I am enjoying this one. I've been taking it slowly, just a chapter a day because of restraints on my reading time.

I've only read one other Shea book so don't have a real basis of comparison. So far things are pretty subdued. Grandpa is the creepy one!

That's great, Kimberley. I'm not a third of the way through, so I shan't commit to such high praise just yet (Sorry, Hunter), but, based on what I've read so far it's in my top two reads.

It's a hefty book in print, so you can use it to defend yourself from home invasion as well!

Latasha (latasha513) That's great Ken!

What about zombies? Is it effective for bashing in their brains?

D20 | 173 comments Anyway, I'm only up to chapter 8 but I'm enjoying the way the family dynamics are developing. I'm getting anxious for something more than notes from the ghosts though!

D20 | 173 comments Ooh! How soon? Didn't get any chance to read at all yesterday.

Vicki Willis I have read up to Chapter 8 and am really enjoying it.

Hunter, How did you come up with the idea about the health issues of the dad? ( I had vertigo once for 3 days from an ear infection and damn! was it miserable!!!)

Good question! I was thinking about that when I read this--the vertigo from an ear infection alone is enough to make you want to "quit moving" and sleep all day!

Jennifer | 52 comments My brainmeats decided that the start date for the read was tomorrow, so I've not started it yet. But by the sounds of it I'm going to enjoy it!

I have to visit my parents this weekend, so this book will help keep me (in)sane during the few days of doing nothing.

I'm very much looking forward to it. Hope everyone else is enjoying it!!

yes it is. luckily, I've only experienced that once and I hope never again.

Jen from Quebec :0) (muppetbaby99) | 44 comments I am still reading The Jersey Devil by Hunter 1st! I am loving it, actually. Now...PLEASE do not take this the wrong way, as I mean it as a compliment- but the book reminds me of the movie, 'Harry and the Hendersons', about Bigfoot. Let me explain! simply because there ARE people like some of our characters in Jersey Devil that make a living researching these 'legendary creatures of mystery' or trying to capture that million $$ photo, just like the French guy and the old fella in the movie, you know?

*hides, embarrassed* NERD ALERT! --Jen from Quebec :0)

A good friend has a father with vertigo for over a decade. It's horrible. You can't escape it, just like the Ridleys can't escape their fate.

D20 | 173 comments Got a little head hopping whiplash reading last night, from West's pov to his father's. Just been exploring the old trunk in West's room.

Latasha (latasha513) Thanks! I like your kitty's names too.

David Brian (davidbrian) I finished last night, and will get a review posted in the next twenty-four hours.
I loved the family dynamic, and the Ridley's are some of the most well written characters I've experienced in a long time. Will definitely be checking out more of Hunter's works!

Jennifer | 52 comments I didn't manage to get very far over the weekend. Not any fault of the book whatsoever as I'm really enjoying it, but pesky family getting in the way.

I feel so sorry for West's father. Vertigo runs in our family, my Gran had it, two of my aunts and my sister have it (or a variety of it). They all suffer horribly with it, and have had to take many days off work. My sister has to take epilepsy tablets to try to control the dizziness! I count myself so lucky as I can't even handle a hangover without turning into a huge whiner.

Vertigo is terrible. You can't escape it and it becomes all consuming.

June (-_-_-june-_-_-_) | 10 comments I'm up to chapter 26, and with the exception of West & Debi I think there are a lot of these characters hiding things, or likely even more serious issues!
I keep changing my mind as to who the Big Bad(s) may be, so I guess that's kudos to Hunter. It's great fun!
