It's time to start nominating your choice of series that you'd like considered to be part of our group reads in 2018. We will be wrapping up one of our current series group reads in December and will be up to date with the other two in March and April 2018. We will begin the series with the most votes in January, the next in April and the third in May.

There are only a few rules:

1. You're limited to nominating a maximum of three series
2. Each nominated series must have at least three books (more than five are preferable)
3. The books in the series must be available for purchase.
4. Your nomination must include the series name and author (check on Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ for the proper series name).

Nominations will be open until October 14. At that time, we will set up a poll for everyone to vote for their choices. We will do three polls at the same time to allow everyone an opportunity to cast three votes. (Only one vote per series!) The three series with the most votes will be selected as our group reads for 2018, in accordance with the outline in the first paragraph.

Let the nominations begin!

The Crombie series looks interesting. I’m almost done with Will Trent and LOVE the Tony Hill/Carol Jordan series. I’m through #4.

I've started LOST, this would be the kick in the pants I need to move ahead.

Danielle Gypsy Soul (afdaniellet) Chicagoland Vampires by Chloe Neill - 13 Books in Series (Series Completed)

message 12: by Phrynne (new)

Phrynne I was going to suggest Victoria Thompson's Gaslight Mysteries but Jonetta got there first:)
Also Linda Castillo's Kate Burkholder series (9 books)
or John Sandford's Lucas Davenport series (28 books)

message 13: by Michelle (new)

Michelle | 3212 comments Okay so I'll apologize because I think this series might have been done before ( maybe in another group that some of us are in ?) but I thought it might be worthwhile putting it worth. And I'm a bit selfish because I'm so behind in it I wouldn't mind the company while finally getting up to date.
J. R. Ward's Black Dagger Brotherhood (17 books)

Nalini Singh's Psy/Changeling series. ( officially it has 17+ books. This author posted a lot of deleted scenes or just something small to keep us going till the next installment on her newsletters. So looking at the series page it's almost 50+)

Lol! I’m not surprised you’re interested.

I’m halfway through Kate Burkholder and love it. I’ve read the first book in Lucas Davenport and almost recommended it as I’ve collected all of the books!

So many excellent series nominated! Some I've read, some I've started and some are on my TBR.

Grant County/ Will Trent is a group read in the J.D. Robb group. It's just started if anyone wants to join for that one.

Kate Burkholder is excellent, and Chicagoland Vampires and Psy-Changeling are a lot of fun.

I definitely want to continue The Gaslight Mysteries and would love to read Throne of Glass.

The only one I won't read is BDB. I've read up to book #5 and its just not my cup of tea although many many others simply adore it.

message 22: by Lieke (new)

Lieke | 1692 comments I looked through my TBR and I own the following series that I would like to read:
The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare 6 books
Deverry by Katharine Kerr 15 books
Tales of the Otori by Lian Hearn 5 books

As there are several different genres listed in the nominations, perhaps we can divide the books into 3 general categories and choose one from each?

Say:
PNR/UF
Mystery/Thriller/Romantic Suspense
YA

This might ensure that there is something for everyone.

message 24: by Veronica (new)

Veronica (readingonthefly) | 1631 comments Wow, so many great series already nominated and that I already have on my TBR list - or else have read one or two books and need to get back to it.

Thoughts on this recommendation?

message 26: by Allison (new)

Allison (rainy-day-reads) I'd be tempted to join in the Throne of Glass series. I'm planning to start it next year anyway, and I might actually be able to keep up with the group read. Normally I need to space series books out a bit more, but with Sarah J. Maas... odds are that wouldn't be an issue.

message 27: by Allison (new)

Allison (rainy-day-reads) Jonetta wrote: "Thoughts on this recommendation?..."

I like it. Maybe add Fantasy somewhere in there, since there are a few of those in the nominations too?

message 28: by Jonetta (new)

Jonetta (ejaygirl) | 12831 comments Mod
I’ll organize into the genres the books fall. Need you fantasy lovers to nominate some series! I’d be up for participating as it’s a genre where I don’t have much experience, except for UF.

Bring it!

message 29: by Veronica (new)

Veronica (readingonthefly) | 1631 comments I'll toss in:

Jane Whitfield series by Thomas Perry. (8 books)

Dave Robicheaux series by James Lee Burke (21 books)

John Rain series by Barry Eisler (9 books)

message 30: by Monica (new)

I've started this series, and would love to continue it.

message 31: by Allison (last edited Oct 05, 2017 09:45AM) (new)

Allison (rainy-day-reads) Could I suggest a reading period of two months per book if we do a group read for fantasy? That way everyone would have plenty of time to read other things too. (And selfishly, I'd be more likely to keep up.)

Here are a couple of fantasy nominations:

Chronicles of Elantra by Michelle Sagara. The series is still being written, but it's episodic, so each installment stands well on its own. There are 12 currently out.

Realms of the Elderlings by Robin Hobb. This is actually several trilogies in the same world with a continuing story arc. The final book of the latest trilogy just came out this year. There are 16 books.

I would also like to nominate the Kate Daniels series by Ilona Andrews. I read the first one ages ago, but now that the final book is due next year, I'd like to get back to it.

We’d have to begin with the Grant County series as they’re connected and it precedes this one. FYI, we’re doing a Group Read of both in the J. D. Robb group. Just started #2 of Grant County this month.
