I don't think I'm far enough to have any opinions. I don't think it'll be my next favorite book, but I'm sure it'll be good.

What Wednesday 7/3/19

Finished
- The Pleasure of My Company by Steve Martin
- I, Robot by Isaac Asimov
- DNF - Love, Life, and Elephants: An African Love Story by Daphne Sheldrick Gave up. The author has lived a fascinating life. But reading this book is painfully slow.

Continuing
- Machines Like Me by Ian McEwan

What have you recently finished reading? What are you currently reading? What do you plan on reading next?

I recently finished The Lightkeeper's Daughters by Jean E. Pendziwol for the Bookmarked Book Club, which I highly recommend. I'm currently reading After I Do by Taylor Jenkins Reid because I have to read everything she writes. I'm not sure what I'll pick up next. I have a lot of books to choose from and I want to read pretty much everything right now.

message 155: by Cathy (new)

Cathy | 112 comments I'm currently reading Reading Behind Bars: A True Story of Literature, Law, and Life as a Prison Librarian by Jill Grunenwald and The Book of Delights by Ross Gay. I've got Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens on audiobook and Into the Water by Paula Hawkins on libby. It might take me awhile to get through these but I definitely want to try The Lightkeeper's Daughters by Jean E. Pendziwol next. Krystyna has rarely steered me wrong with book suggestions.

The Dragon Republic is pretty good. Just like the first book, some parts read like a young adult novel, in my opinion anyway. Other than that I am enjoying it.

I recently finished Love and Other Words by Christina Lauren. I haven't started anything new since I finished my last read. I'm not sure what I'll pick up.

Vivian Stevenson (passionatelyperusing) | 2024 comments Just finished The Turn of the Key by Ruth Ware, and I absolutely loved it. I recommend it if you are in the mood for a creepy thriller.

Currently reading The History of Love by Nicole Krauss. I'm liking it, but it's slow paced. I'm just barely making my way through it.

I am going to read The Most Fun We Ever Had by Claire Lombardo next. I picked it up on a whim, and Krystyna said she had heard good things about it.

I did not care for The Salt House. Gave up on it fairly early on. That poor dog in the first chapter. And that sniping between husband and wife. Not for me.

Happy Wednesday! What have you recently finished reading? What are you currently reading? What do you plan on reading next?

I last book that I finished was Love and Other Words by Christina Lauren. I tried reading two books since then and I didn't enjoy either. I DNF'd one of them and the other I got over halfway through and I may try to finish it at some point but I'm not sure. Now, I'm currently reading Small Spaces by Katherine Arden. I'm not sure what I'll pick up next. I have a few checked out from the library that I'm really excited to read.

Vivian Stevenson (passionatelyperusing) | 2024 comments Recently finished: Night Boat to Tangier by Kevin Barry.

Currently reading:
The Doll Factory by Elizabeth Macneal

The Heart Keeper by Alex Dahl. I haven't picked this one up in a bit.

The Most Fun We Ever Had by Claire Lombardo

The History of Love by Nicole Krauss. I'm still not 100 pages in. I'm on vacation next week so maybe I'll push myself to finish it.

Next:
I'm interested in The Dutch House by Ann Patchett

OR

The Water Dancer by Ta-Nehisi Coates

Vivian Stevenson (passionatelyperusing) | 2024 comments I recently finished:

The History of Love by Nicole Krauss

Currently reading:

The Dutch House by Ann Patchett. It's pretty much my main focus. I'm 56% of the way through it. I'm enjoying it, but I don't think it's going to be a new favorite.

Next:

I'll probably go ahead and finish up The Most Fun We Ever Had by Claire Lombardo. I have about 300 or so pages left.

My reading update hasn't changed since last week. The last book that I finished was Small Spaces by Katherine Arden. I was reading The Party by Robyn Harding for Bookmarked and I DNF'd it. I really didn't enjoy this book and I couldn't force myself to read it anymore. I'm still currently reading Middlegame by Seanan McGuire and I'm still enjoying it. Now that I don't have to force myself to read The Party I can focus on finishing Middlegame.
