NetGalley

Feed Your Readers, the NetGalley Challenge

Duration: Monthly

How to Participate:

The NetGalley Challenge is designed to not only get you to read your NetGalley books, but to also advertise your reviews for others to see because after all, that's what NetGalley is all about.

Though you may pop in/out at any time, the NetGalley Challenge will run on a monthly basis so you are able to see progress being made.

1. At the beginning of the month, post any/all of the following:
a: How many books on your NetGalley shelf
b: What books are on your NG shelf
c: What your Netgalley feedback ratio is

2. During the month, read the NetGalley books that you can AND update your post with your reviews. (You can do this after each book or wait until the end of the month.)

3. At the end of the month, update your post and with:
a: What books you read
b: Link(s) to your review(s)**
c: Your updated shelf count
d: Your updated books to read
e: Your updated ratio

Then start a new post for the next month!

But Wait, There's More

Do you ever get so caught up in your reading that you don't want to stop to write your reviews?

Thinking about that, it was decided we need a "Review Weekend", once each month, set aside to write those reviews you've been not doing in favor of reading!

Review Weekends will vary randomly each month and is meant to be a time set aside to review. Take one, or both days and get caught up on reviews so you can spend the rest of the month reading!!

The next Review Weekend is set for August 18/19

**When linking your reviews, please link only to the book(s) here at GoodReads. At this time, linking to a personal blog is not allowed. Thank you!

Kristie | 3578 comments Finished Hello Again (The Evelyn Talbot Chronicles, #2) by Brenda Novak

Hello Again review

3.5 stars rounded up, the story is really good, though becoming a bit repetitive at times. I'm hoping the author tries something new the next time around, but she has set it up for a similar storyline again. I still enjoyed it, except for the (also repetitive) whiny relationship issues the MC has.

Kristie | 3578 comments That's too bad you didn't enjoy that one, Karen. Nice review.

I'm trying not to add any for a while. I aded a lot last month and I have far too many on my shelf already. I just reorganized them by publication date, because I wasn't considering that when reviewing, and I found that I'm really behind where I should be and have a few coming up too. That's partly why I dnf the last book. It was taking too long to get through and all my other galleys were just sitting there. I considered sending feedback that I wouldn't be reading some, since they are so old, but I'm still interested in them. Hopefully, now that I'm not stuck on that one book I can get a move on with some of the others.

Well I'm going to call it for the month and petty happy I got 5 read in August. Although I don't have many on my shelf, they are all kind of old and I really want to get through those that have already been published (6) before I go on a crazy requesting spree :)

message 40: by Alison (new)

Alison (a1ison74) | 2826 comments This has really not been a great month for me. Finally updated everything for August and I've added a LOT of books to my shelf. I've done not too bad in terms of reading them but seem to be a bit blocked as far as writing up the reviews goes.

My shelf would probably not be that terrible (and I'd get that bloomin 200 review badge) if I just wrote and submitted the reviews. I may try to get a couple in today and tomorrow.

Then it's 6 months later and I'm struggling to remember anything about the book or the characters. Those reviews are so much fun to write :P

Kristie | 3578 comments Oh! I'm the same as Karen. I have to write them right away. Even not writing detailed reviews, I wouldn't remember enough 6 months later. lol

Alison (a1ison74) | 2826 comments I finally finished Spinning Silver by Naomi Novik last night. Started it in May but gave up on the ARC and resorted to a library copy cos the format was so bad. Needless to say rather than write the review I sat and watched TV :) Has anyone been watching Bodyguard? It's brilliant.

I'm also at long last listening to a book I got from NetGalley 3 years ago. Will be nice to clear it off my shelf but I'm a bit embarrassed about giving feedback 3 years late.

It is getting to the end of football season here, so I can't say we watch much else on TV at the moment ;)

I listened to one of my NetGalley books this month too. I did feel bad that I got to it so late that it had already been released on audio and was available from my library lol

Kristie | 3578 comments I¡¯ve given reviews really late before and felt the same way, but at the same time I want them off my shelf. I currently have 3 books that are a year old that I still need to get to. I really need to get better about that.

Kristie | 3578 comments Finished one last book for the month: Not Her Daughter by Rea Frey

Not Her Daughter review

That will be it for me this month. I've added one book to my shelf and removed four this month, going from 18 books to 15. My ratio went up slightly from 87% to 89%.
