You're not a weiner, gurl! You made it through this one & I'm proud of you! *huggies* Pepper Winters's books is known to cause jaw-dropping insanity, so this one is...just..WOW to say the least.

I'm currently leaning towards a 4.5 stars, lol. I may be biased bcuz I love her books & she's the reason I picked up dark romance haha! But yea, there is something about the way she writes dark stories that is utterly compelling. Like some sort of elegance & finesse to it that I can't really explain, lol.

My only slight issue would be that whole lunch table scene. I mean, that's a little disturbing to me even as a dark romance lover haha! I'm writing my review now as I speak but my thoughts are everywhere!!

LOL, you can say it, I know it's true. *hug* Yeah, I saw the synopsis for her other books and quickly closed my browser window, lol.

I'm not sure of a rating just yet. I'm so utterly happy that she wasn't raped so that right there is a winner for me. And I loved the writing, loved the strength of the heroine (even though I wish she had some sense of preservation in her). I could deal with the luncheon scene by shutting off emotions and reasoning that at least she wasn't being raped at the moment. I just couldn't deal with the imagery of everyone who had come before, of what they would have had to put up with and the final degradation of decapitation. The injustices of it all is just overwhelming for me. I also am having trouble with feeling charitable towards her father at the moment. >E

Agreed woman! The only reason I could go through that scene was the emotional shut down & seeing through Nila's reasoning as how she coped through that entire ordeal only made it bearable for me.

And yeah, Pepper Winters has seriously pushed some serious boundaries with all the injustices going on in this book, which surprised the hell outta me. Her previous series was equally mind-numbingly insane that I literally felt sick in the gut reading this one horrendous portion of the book & I had to take a break D:

But the way she could write something so dangerously dark and made it feel so real & raw is prolly one of the reasons I adore her writings. It's crazy, I know haha! I sound like a damn sadistic person right now D:

Oh goodness, I don't think I'd be able to handle her other books. D: But yes, I have to commend her for making it real for me, for making my heart pound as if I'm the one that's in the book!
