Participation points can be earned in these ways

To Get Started
1. Roll over 5 points from 2018
2. Generating a Randomizer list, 5 points
3. If you are brand new or have been a lurker and want to get started, if you introduce yourself on the Introduce your self thread; /topic/show/..., give yourself a 5 points (only people who did not have 5 points to roll over at the beginning of the year.
4. If you invite someone to join Reading 1001, give yourself a bonus point.

3. BOTM Participation points:
--You earn 3 points for read, discussing and reviewing the book. A review can be a one liner, yes it was good. No I hated it. Etc. *Please post your reviews in the folder for 1001 Book Reviews.
--If you just discuss the book, but not read it during the month, you get 1 point. We like people to discuss.
--1 point if you read the book and don't discuss it, 2 points if you read and write a review in the folder for reviews.

Bonus. If you read, discuss and review both BOTM, you get 1 bonus point. (the book must be read that month, if you read it previously, you must reread to claim the bonus point).

BUDDY READ: you can opt for a buddy read only if you have read both BOTM and can get at least one person to join you in reading and discussing that book. You must moderate the book yourself. /topic/show/...
Creator of the buddy read gets 3 points for reading, discussing reviewing and 1 point for each person that joins them, completes the book and discusses the book and writes a review.
Buddies earn 3 points for reading, discussing and reviewing just like they do for BOTM.

QUARTERLY: 3 points each month and 3 for completing in time total 12 so it matches the highest BOTM points.
If you read a quarterly book ahead of schedule, you would take 1 point for other as it is not yet a current read. You can take 1 point for participating in the discussion for each month that you do participate in the discussion. You would still be able to take the bonus points for reading all of the quarterly reads.

YEARLY: There are 4 sections to our annual book this year. 15 points for reading and discussing each book for a total 60 points for the annual read if you get them all read.

BONUS POINTS:
10 points if you read all the BOTM choices.
15 points for reading all the quarterly reads.

4. Hosting: 5 points for each month your host (whether a monthly quarterly).

5. 1 point for reading and reviewing other 1001 books. Reviews to be posted in the review folder. See the instructions there.

9. Challenges (see individual challenges for details)

10. TBR Takedown: see TBR Takedown TBR takedown numbers will be posted early, about one day early, you must not start reading until the first of each month

11. Randomizer reads; see details in the randomizer folder

Rules
You must read a book within the designated time period. BUT-- you can go 5 days over the time, to read, discuss and participate

Newbie rule: a newbie can read back and catch up on anything prior to their date of joining the group. If you joined in March, you can read January and February BOTM, Quarterly and annual. If you joined in February but just lucked around until July. The start date remains February. (Make Sense?) Excluded is the TBR takedown, you are invited to make a TBR takedown list and leave blank the numbers that were previously drawn.
