Seems like most users who shelve their own book forget to add the URL to the "about" (or "why this book") box.

This means a moderator (usually) has to spot that and go back and fix it, which means they first have to find the relevant thread which is not always easy given how huge the group is.

Should adding books to shelves be limited to moderators?

I am of two minds.

On the one hand, I'm in favor of people being able to manage whatever parts of the posting, commenting, shelving, etc. related to their search for books.

On the other hand, many people don't add the URL. I think we catch most of them. I do look at the solved folders and double check the books there. I may be somewhat slow about it, but eventually every book in those folders does get a look from me.

Really, I lean to option 1, but would accept either option.

Other mods, what do you think?

I know I haven't been active here for awhile (life got hectic) so I don't necessarily think my vote should carry as much weight as others who have been more consistently active, but FWIW, I'm in favor of limiting shelving to moderators. Yes, many people don't add the URL, and my pet peeve is when books get incorrectly categorized -- an adult book gets shelved as children's/YA or vice-versa, and that seems to happen with some regularity, too.
