Yup - continuing the ripe old tradition of using alternate tasks :) Couldn't get more than a pair for my rolls :(

message 57: by Fran, Moderator (new)

Fran | 12213 comments Jane, you can use Chance this month!

message 58: by Jane (PS), Moderator (new)

Jane (PS) | 24015 comments Oh yeah... Ok, thanks Fran. Not SO useless after all ;)

message 59: by MountainKat, Moderator (new)

MountainKat | 30301 comments Way better than starting the new challenge with an alternate again, maybe the beginning of a new trend!

We can only hope! - but the chances are likely slim with my memory at month end incorporated into the mix ;)

Sally906 | 857 comments Just checking I have done this right (mind you I am half way through the book now - LOL)

January 2015: 1st roll result was (4,3,6,6,5) keep 4,3,5,6 then rerolled 6 - result was (2) keep now as 2,3,4,5,6 = Lg.Straight-5 numbers in a row - Read an Anthology
The book chosen to read:
Beyond the Dark (Includes Tale of the Demon World, #5; Breeds, #13) by Angela Knight Beyond the Dark by Angela Knight et al

Phew - that was fun!

Fran | 12213 comments I might need some suggestions for a book title with 6 words....very few on my shelves. I might end up using my 3 of a kind for this month :)

message 66: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 7316 comments the new julia quinn has 6 words in the title - The Secrets of Sir Richard Kenworthy

message 67: by Fran, Moderator (new)

Fran | 12213 comments Thanks Dee :)

Anything else besides Historical?

message 68: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 7316 comments nothing that I can think of off the top of my head - but i'll look

message 70: by Fran, Moderator (new)

Fran | 12213 comments Thanks Dee!

message 71: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 7316 comments i would say, Undead Christmas could function as a stand-alone - its about mid series - but is more of a vignette

and the bella andre (as much as I'm not a fan) - are normally pretty solid stand-alones

message 72: by Fran, Moderator (new)

Fran | 12213 comments I'm not that into pnr these days so the Bella Andre is more appealing to me, and I like her :)

message 73: by Jane (PS), Moderator (new)

Jane (PS) | 24015 comments Here are a couple from the last year or so of my reading:

The Only Way Out Is In - scifi and MMR LiAW
How to Raise an Honest Rabbit - Amy Lane and I don't think these need to be read in order
You Can Leave Your Hat On - MMR

Jeez - heaps of 5 word titles, but not many 6! I even have a few 7s.

Most of LB Gregg's Men of Smithfield are 6 word titles, depending on which edition you select ;) ...

message 74: by Fran, Moderator (new)

Fran | 12213 comments Thanks Jane!

Have you rolled for February yet?
Just a reminder ;)

The Men of Smithfield and You Can Leave Your Hat On don't meet the 100 page minimum :(

They look good too!

message 76: by Jane (PS), Moderator (new)

Jane (PS) | 24015 comments I have every plan to do so in the next few minutes :)

Thanks for the reminder Fran!

message 77: by Jane (PS), Moderator (new)

Jane (PS) | 24015 comments Got a Small Straight first pop! Going with that since I applied my alt task to the Large Straight in January :)

Fran | 12213 comments Reminder!

Please roll your dice between today, Feb. 25th and March 5th!

If you forget to roll the dice between those dates, please use the March Alternate Task-

March- March- Read a book with an MC athlete, or has a sport that is played in the story or has sports equipment on the cover (i.e. a baseball glove, ball, skis)

message 79: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 7316 comments rolling while I remember ;)

Becky ♡The Bookworm♡ (mckennamuse) | 731 comments So far I've been lucky! Got my full house last month and my small straight this time! I already had two consecutive series books set up for BR's in March, too! YAY!

message 81: by Jane (PS), Moderator (new)

~KarenH~ | 10974 comments Oh, thanks for the reminder, Jane...I've come close to missing twice already this year, and it's only the end of March! Better roll tonight while I'm thinking about it. =P

message 83: by R~wka (new)

R~wka (r-wka) | 882 comments What can I do if I can't finish my March book until the end of month? Or better asking... Who is the limit to finish a book?

message 84: by Fran, Moderator (new)

Fran | 12213 comments R~wka wrote: "What can I do if I can't finish my March book until the end of month? Or better asking... Who is the limit to finish a book?"

Hi R-wka!

You have until March 31st to finish your March book. For each month's roll you have until the end of that month to complete the book(s) chosen for that month.

If you can't complete the book by the end of the month, you can do the 'Alternate Task' for that month the next month, in addition to the next month's roll.

For example, if you don't finish your March book, you can do the alternate task for March in April, along with your April book choice :)

message 85: by R~wka (new)

R~wka (r-wka) | 882 comments Thank you. I will try to read the book until 31st but I wanted to know what if I can't.

message 86: by Ms.soule (new)

Ms.soule (mrssoule) I've noticed several people post the details of their roll and when they've finished a book on the participants thread separate from their main tracking post. Am I supposed to be doing that? I've just been updating my tracking post!

message 87: by Fran, Moderator (new)

Fran | 12213 comments Hi Mrs. Soule!

You are doing it exactly right :)

Posting your updated progress in separate posts is just a personal preference and not required.
I think it's just participants wanting to share their rolls and book choices with everyone.
I like seeing what everyone is doing but I don't go back to their original posts to look. So the updates are a nice way for me to see everyone's progress :)

Hi Nan!

You need to count the 'The'. All words in the title count for the # of words in title categories.

GreenEyedTigerCub Harrison | 10 comments dumb question: -March- Read a book with an MC athlete, or has a sport that is played in the story or has sports equipment on the cover (i.e. a baseball glove, ball, skis). Whats an MC athlete? MC to me is motorcycle club

message 95: by Fran, Moderator (new)

Fran | 12213 comments Hi Kerry!

MC= Main Character

I will make that clearer since you are right, it can also mean motorcycle club :)

GreenEyedTigerCub Harrison | 10 comments Thanks Fran, thought it might have been an american thing as Im in Australia, I even googled it and it came up with collages.
