It's time to mark our calendars for our first quarterly read-a-thon for 2020! It will take place Friday April 3rd at 12.01am and continue until Sunday April 5th at 11.59pm in your local time zone - 3 full days :)

We read a fabulous 28,939 pages last quarterly Read-a-thon, well above the goal we'd set ourselves. Now, let's see if we can reach 30,000 pages in our time of isolation!

Please post your interest here in this thread up until we begin the challenge - when the weekend is over the page numbers read will be tallied:)

If possible, check in at least once a day, more often if you want. Our cut off time for you to add your final totals with a NEW POST will be Monday 6th AEST:)

Couple of questions:

1) Do books have to be by Australian authors?
2) Do you have to start new books, or can you finish books that you have already started, and just include the pages read over the readathon period?

I've never joined one of these before so want to make sure I'm reading the right books,

I am in - I think, with the world as it is at the moment, that we may break all previous records for the read-a-thon and I am excited!

Brenda may want to confirm, but in the past, it has been fine to include partially read books you just need to keep track of the pages you actually read during the readathon, while deducting the pages you read before/after.

They don't have to be Australia authors.

Thanks Deborah - she's right Trevor. With the partials, whether it is an ebook or "real" book, just note the page or % number you start on so you can calculate how many you read during the readathon time. And any author, and min 125 pages for the book :)

I'd love to join in please! I don't think I'll have much else to do at all... I only had one day back teaching yesterday (Monday) after being off all of last week sick, and now we're officially working from home at least until we're "due" to return on 15th April... I don't even think I'll be able to spend the school break with my family this year given physical distance between us...

That said, I do try and find as much time to read as I can each weekend! :)

Count me in. Though don't be surprised if I say I've read 600 pages of a 300 page book. I find I'm not really taking them in properly and end up starting again or re-reading sections several times at the moment.
