MountainKat | 30623 comments I think most of you know each other, at least a little, but feel free to introduce yourself again. Please give any relevant information, especially time zone as that helps know when it is best to communicate. 😊

Please select a team leader to help keep track of where your team is in any given task. And as necessary guide discussions for task decisions. Any teammate can report your completions though.

Remember, it is the team's responsibility to notify the host (me) if a teammate fails to complete the task in a timely manner or otherwise goes missing! I am not checking all the team threads regularly to notice and may only check when notified a task is complete.

PS - If you want to be known as anything other than Team 12, you are free to come up with a team name. 😉

Nayara (nayalink) | 630 comments Hey Team!

(I took the liberty of reserving some posts for the tracking. 🙂)

I'm Nayara from Belo Horizonte, Brazil (so no way we going to use my hometown for task #53). I love romance novels and read almost anything. I especially like Paranormal and Urban Fantasy books (I'm obsessed with Ilona Andrews and Nalini Sigh books). I'm between jobs at the moment, so this + quarantine is giving me a LOT of time for reading.

I'm in the GMT -3 hours time zone

Nayara (nayalink) | 630 comments Some of the tasks required some personal information, so can you tell us your month/year birthday, your hometown, and the year you joined the group... we also need to list our 5 favorite books and if you want to talk about your favorite tropes we can find some common ground.

We can start decided on some tasks to make it easier if this task is called, like:

1.Each player reads a book by the same author, teams decide author - no pass for this task.
9. Each player reads a book in the same series, teams decide. No pass for this task.
33. Read 6 books in the same sub-genre, teams decide.
50. Read 6 books set in the same location, teams decide the location.
51. Each teammate reads a different book by the same author, no pass for this task.
55. Read 6 books set in the same country outside the US, teams decide country.
82. Each teammate reads a different book from the same series.

Nayara (nayalink) | 630 comments Some other things about me:

My birthday is April 28th 1988 and I joined the group last year.

I don't mind the trope of the book so much, but If I find friends to lovers or a fake relationship I'll probably read it. However, if you ask me a trope that I absolutely HATE is a love triangle. This is absolutely a no, no, no for me (unless they are polyamorous).

Listing 5 favourite books is hard, but I'll say (not in order):

1. Slave to Sensation (to represent this series that I adore)
2. The Perks of Being a Wallflower
3. Indigo
4. Sea Swept
5. Daughter of the Forest
(I fell physical pain thinking about choosing only one of Ilona Andrews books, so I'll list none)

Year joined RRRC: 2013

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 1103 comments I'm in Massachusetts on EST.
My birthday is 2/1970.
My hometown is Easthampton Mass, I live in Agawam Mass. I do not live in area where any books are usually set. I spent most of my youth in Northampton MA. (that might be a possibility as a setting place). If we can use State-Massachusetts has a ton of books set here but it's mostly in the Boston, Cape Cod area. However, there's a romance series by Carla Neggers set in the Swift River Valley of Mass and I live near there and the Swift River is my favorite place to kayak)
I can't really name 5 favorite books. I'll name some authors for which I can easily find a series book to read for that task or the read the same author task:
Jim Butcher
Ilona Andrews
Agatha Christie
MC Beaton
Nora Roberts
(there's a whole lot more that I will read)
No idea when I joined this group.

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 1103 comments There's no tropes that I hate so much that I can't suffer through one book for the team. Not one that I can think of off the top of my head. Not a huge fan of love triangles either but they mostly bother me when they go on and on in a series. I will not read a Stephanie Plum or Hannah Swenson book because of that.

Ok there is one: I am not a big fan of the ugly or fat girl has to do a completely make herself over for the hero of the book to fall in love with her.

I'm Michaele - pronounced like Michael. I love in Utah - outside of Salt Lake City - so MST. I was born in 8/1976. I believe I joined this group in 11/2017.

I also don't care for love triangles. I mostly read contemporary mm, but I am fairly open to trying other sub-genres - except for horror or anything too creepy.

I hope I'm an ok fit!

I vote for We'd Rather be Reading as a team name!

Eden Finley
Lucy Lennox
Marie Sexton ~ on my tbr
Sarina Bowen ~ on my tbr

These are the only ones I can think of that I've either read or am planning to read.

That's ok - I read mf too, so we can pick mf authors or series when we have to read something in common. Or we can pick someone like Sarina Bowen who writes both :)

No pressure to read anything you don't want to.

Maybe Colorado Mountain or the 'Burg series? Or maybe Ghosts and Reincarnation since Nayara likes paranormal?

Michaele | 6357 comments FIRST TASK -

0. As a team select your favorite month of 2019 (because 2020 basically SUCKS!) and each player reads a book initially published in that month. No pass for this task.

For this task we are using the initial publication date. If one is listed at the top of the editions page, use that. Otherwise I will be looking for the first published date of an English language edition. Remember to use the first English language Kindle edition for your page count and ensure that your completion posts contain all the required information listed in message #3 of your team thread.

Nayara (nayalink) | 630 comments About the suggestions:

01. For the author (task 1): I'm good with Sarina Bowen. I've only read Brooklinaire by her and it was such a good book that I don't mind reading another one

9. For reading a book of the same series (task 9) I would be good with either The Four Horseman series or Chronicles of the One. In my undestanding we don't need to read the same book but it would not be a problem if we do.

82. We can read something by Kristen Ashley since I think she has a lot of books in one series. I haven't read anything of her yet but I'm wanting to do it for some time

For the series one, could we pick something else? I don't think I can handle the apocalypse right now - feels too real. Or is that one we can pass on?

I didn't even think about that 🤦🏽‍♀... I forgot that I read the 1st book of Chronicles of the One in the begining of the quarantine and it was an... interesting experience.

Forget my vote for this option, I will take a look on the other books

It doesn't have to be 2019, just January

Well that sucks. I thought it was just the month. Back to the drawing board.
