It's been delayed so you're looking at at least a 2022 release, if not longer.

Finished my re-read of Unraveled (Elemental Assassin, #15) by Jennifer Estep and it was great! I love the setting in this one and the fight at the end was very creative! I loved it! I kinda want to read more Elemental Assassin... maybe. I think I'm gonna try and finish Queen of Air and Darkness, and then we'll see about more Gin Blanco. Lol.

Okay, I lied. I'm re-reading Venom in the Veins (Elemental Assassin, #17) by Jennifer Estep (or maybe Deadly Sting (Elemental Assassin, #8) by Jennifer Estep ... I haven't decided yet lol). I just need sassy Gin in my life, and I know QoAaD is just going to crush my soul. I'm at the beginning of it and it's already heartbreaking. I don't feel like crying right know so I'm gonna continue to procrastinate finishing that book and read more Elemental Assassin 😅 I'm probably gonna end up re-reading the entire series... and out of order, too. Ooops 😂

Enjoy your random rereads! You should just start at 1 and read through them all again at this point lol

message 59: by Gord (new)

Gord | 965 comments A couple of years back I did a bit of a shake up with my reading habits and started experimenting with various mediums of reading. One of the big success stories out of that was the discovery of web novels with one in particular The Wandering Inn. I took a bit of a hiatus from the series last year after I stalled out at the start of volume 6. I returned to it this month and it has felt good to return to this world. It's hard to explain the series as it is monstrous in scope. The first book is the shortest and that was 1,158 pages. The current volume I'm reading is a staggering 6,500 pages. It starts as a portal fantasy and has morphed into this giant living breathing world with 1000's of years of history to it. There is a main character but we follow numerous characters on different continents. Any side character can potentially become the main character for several chapters as the author goes off and explores a different story line or sets up over arching stories. There are things that the author might hint at that never come back up for several thousand pages. There are plot lines, sub plots, joke chapters, historical chapters, all weaving together into this giant world. It's a blast to read. Now considering this is my "work" book, meaning I only read it at work on lunch/coffee/down times, I'm going to be plugging away at for a while. I'm hoping to have the current volume done by the spring time and then it's on to the next one.

Still so cool Gord. Way too big for me to consider starting but it does sound neat.

I finished listening to A Court of Frost and Starlight (A Court of Thorns and Roses, #3.1) by Sarah J. Maas so I will be ready for the new release.

That sounds really interesting Gord! But holy crap that's a lot of pages! 😅 Enjoy the read though! 😊

Brittany I was thinking the same thing! 😂 The only reason why I haven't gone all the way back to book 1 is because of Donovan Caine. He was Gin's love interest in the first 2 books of the series and I did not like him 😬 Plus, as much as I love this series, I really need to go read some other stuff 😂

Gord | 965 comments Another week of reading has come and gone.

Daughter of Smoke & Bone (Daughter of Smoke & Bone, #1) by Laini Taylor I can see a lot of people liking this book but it simply did not work for me. I didn't like the romance and I didn't like the ending.

Clown in a Cornfield by Adam Cesare Killer clown in a cornfield. Not much else to say. If you like books like this that is all that needs to be said.

On the manga front: High-Rise Invasion Vol. 11 (High-Rise Invasion, #11) by Tsuina Miura High-Rise Invasion Vol. 12 (High-Rise Invasion, #12) by Tsuina Miura Fairy Tail, Vol. 03 (Fairy Tail, #3) by Hiro Mashima Fairy Tail, Vol. 04 (Fairy Tail, #4) by Hiro Mashima

Over the next week I plan on reading Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? Light Novels, Vol. 5 (Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? Light Novels, #5) by Fujino Omori , more High Rise Invasion and more Fairy Tail

Gord | 965 comments I've had a great start to the year so far. I'm kind of surprised honestly as the local library is only doing curbside pickup due to health restrictions. I've been lucking out and everything I've been wanting to read has been available digitally for the most part.

A Little Mystery Book ᰔ I finished One of Us is Next by Karen McManus not to long ago. Which I loved it to the end. The book I’m currently reading is Legend by Marie Lu.

Starting Druid Vices and a Vodka (The Guild Codex Spellbound, #6) by Annette Marie

I have listened to so much more than normal this month! Which is good since I have physically read so much less!

I like the Percy Jackson or Magnus Chase series better but this is okay. I like the Egyptian perspective.

The Poppy War (The Poppy War, #1) by R.F. Kuang the best! So amazing!
Grin and Beard It (Winston Brothers, #2) by Penny Reid yet another great romance.
The Friend Zone (The Friend Zone, #1) by Abby Jimenez just meh..
Hopeless Magic (Star-Crossed, #2) by Rachel Higginson unexpectedly good. Not without flaws but good.
The Villa in Italy by Elizabeth Edmondson so freaking summery! Enjoyed reading.
Clap When You Land by Elizabeth Acevedo so-so
20,000 Leagues Under the Sea and other Classic Novels by Jules Verne - amazing classics.

Also finished Miss Frost Says I Do (Jayne Frost, #7) by Kristen Painter series. A good cozy mystery with a Christmas theme. Enjoyed it so much!

The Villa on the Riviera by Elizabeth Edmondson The Well of Ascension (Mistborn, #2) by Brandon Sanderson Empire of Storms (Throne of Glass, #5) by Sarah J. Maas Brain Maker The Power of Gut Microbes to Heal and Protect Your Brain for Life by David Perlmutter

Tell me about it Brittany! Read it in 2015/16 (I think I finished it around new year in 2016) and it was just so bad. It's not even the ending that I was most mad about, the ending made sense to me actually, it was that NOTHING happened for like 80% of the book.

message 95: by Elena (new)

Elena Granger | 1780 comments @Brittany glad you found something to add to your TBR :) And also agree on Allegiant (Divergent, #3) by Veronica Roth . I loved the 1st book, the second was also good but the third one... just so-so.

message 96: by Brittany (new)

Brittany | 6358 comments Mod
Jae, honestly it just didn't work for me as a story. I love YA but this felt too young and so much of the plot is pushed forward just because they don't communicate. The time period setting and the characterization weren't as fleshed out as I like in a story. But I do know a lot of people really enjoyed that book! It just didn't live up to the hype for me.

message 97: by Brittany (new)

Brittany | 6358 comments Mod
About Allegiant, it took me all month to read! Because you are right Jo, nothing happens. They do their usual hiding things from each other, we get introduced to a bunch of cookie cutter people and a new big bad world is introduced.
Divergent so good but stop there the other two are not worth the time!

I never really got why that series was a trilogy to be honest, there didn't seem to be enough story to justify it.
