An entitled, wealthy woman gives up everything to go to Alaska to the Bering Sea to become a crab fisher-lady? I was so confused from it all. I felt the whole story was choppy and out of whack. Characters were NOT well defined or developed. Was there a first book to this? I love watching about crab fishing in Alaska and there is no way someone would take someone like Mia on such a dangerous task. And people are burning up other's boats and killing people? It just had me going around in circles trying to grasp the whole concept of the characters and story. I can't recommend it.

This book was nothing like I thought it would be. I thought it was more a memoir of Frank McCourt's life and would have more history of the times. It was but it got redundant and too silly. I still don't understand the title of the book, when it was Frank's story, not his mothers. I would have enjoyed reading about her life more. It was heartbreaking to read about the squalor, an alcoholic father who drank every bit of money. Children sick, dying, disease, unhabitable conditions. This was what it was like living in the lowest poverty in America and Ireland in the times. I just didn't seem the humor in it.

I read these out of sequence, but it didn't change what a great book this one is. A young woman gets off a train, not knowing who she is or why she is there, her past, memories or what kind of life she is living. Someone that knows her takes her to her "home", where she finds she has two identities, two drivers' licenses, two phones and different addresses. The way she finds herself back to a life and reality is so much fun to read. I read this book in three days. It was so hard to put down even if I did have knowledge of the outcome. I would suggest though, to read them in sequence as the mystery and suspense would have been keener. The characters are so strong, independent and believable. I can't wait to read the next one in the series. I would give this a higher rating if I could. It was fantastic!!

I’m listening to In Her Tracks by Robert Dugoni, Tracy Crosswhite #8.

The story started out very interesting with good characters, but as it went on it got very tedious and I found the characters very boring and immature. The author tried to bring Christian attitudes into the story, which is fine, but it never developed and got lost in ghosts, suspense and a lunatic. Too many subplots. Not a stand-alone story. Left you hanging.

Story set in Chicago in the 1950's. This is book is the 5th in a series, but I didn't feel lost. It certainly can be a stand-alone book. There are many characters all intertwined with each other, but easy to follow. Many sub-plots, but the author makes it very easy to follow. It is at time very emotional and very disturbing at times. It did get a bit wordy at times. I would like to hope we have come a long way since then with the understanding of epilepsy and mental illness. I found this story very intriguing and fun to read.
