Renee (reneeconoulty) | 3309 comments After browsing through the threads now that Tower Teams III has finished, so many of you seem to be having challenge withdrawal! Here is a place to chat with others about your addiction. No 12 step program here though - the only cure is to pick up a book and sign up for another challenge!

Do you miss the team challenges when they end? Do they make you really competitive? Do you overcommit to individual challenges? Do your friends just not understand? Does your partner roll their eyes at you? This is the place for you!

message 2: by Renee (new)

Renee (reneeconoulty) | 3309 comments I can't quite let go of TT3 though, so our team is going to unofficially keep going until we hit 20,000 anyway.

And I have insider information that another Wheelathon style challenge is not far away.

I love the team challenges as they are a great way to get to know people and they bring out my competitive side.

PS Bring on the Wheelathon!

Nancy (nancyhelen) | 1469 comments Yes, Yes, Oh Yes, Yes and Yes!

My name is Nancy and I too am a Challenge addict. My fingers get twitchy when I see a new one, I lie awake at night planning what books I am going to read, and I find myself at the end of each month thinking "I have 14 books to read in 5 days..."

There must be asylums for people like us - where we can get locked away and do nothing but READ!

Bliss...

My name is Karen and it seems that I can't stop myself from creating or inputting into team challenges. At the end of every one I'm looking forward to more free time and no more spreadsheets.... and then a few short weeks pass and I'm excited to post another one...

I'd gladly share a room with you there! I have all the same symptoms ...

☼♎ Carmen the Bootyshaker Temptress ☼♎ | 7238 comments Yea to it all. My TT3 team are also continuing with the challenge. We are also waiting patiently, well not so patiently, for the next challenge. I love challenges and I can't stop myself from clicking whatever comes my way. It's a sickness with me but a good one. I'll admit and no I won't be admitted to any place unless there are books with me :)

Cait S | 2825 comments Hello all! Right there with you on being super ready for Wheelathon. Thankfully, Kelly is keeping me busy with the RPG quests so I'm hanging in there.

But I'm gonna go ahead and say sign ups need to go up now anyway :P

jingles Hi. My name is jingles and I'm a challenge-aholic.

NancyHelen, I want a room like that. Make that 3 or 4 rooms. I need the extra space for custom made bookshelves. You know the kind....those that go from floor to ceiling (a very, very high ceiling), with the ladder that rolls around it, so you can get to all your books? That's the one :)

I did hear a rumor of sorts about a possible upcoming Wheel-a-Thon challenge, and I am super excited about that. Sign.Me.Up!!!

K~Terror (k-terror) | 5600 comments Exactly! I don't think I have a problem, I just think someone needs to explain to my family how it is perfectly reasonable to be folding laundry and cleaning the kitchen with an ear bud in... or why it's OK to update spreadsheets after dinner so that points can be tallied and you know what needs to be read next... or why it should be acceptable to read until the wee hours of the morning...

I don't have a problem... I'm just misunderstood.... :D

message 16: by Stacie (new)

Stacie (thesebooksaremyfriends) My husband calls me a nerd when I get excited about a challenge. He has yet to see my spreadsheet but I'm pretty sure he would just laugh and call me a nerd. He has his MMO's, I have books. It's a fair trade!

❤Stephanie ღ♥ღMrs Daryl Dixonღ♥ღ | 2613 comments Hi, My name is Stephanie and I'm a challenge addict. I always say after I finish a challenge that I will take a break from joining any more for a couple of week before doing another one, but that never works because the same day or the next day I have already signed up for 3 more.

I am also really looking forward to the next Wheel-A-Thon challenge.

message 20: by Joanne (last edited Feb 16, 2015 03:50PM) (new)

Joanne What is a Wheel-a-Thon challenge?

Edit: nevermind I scrolled down to the bottom of the group and found it

This is last round. Maybe it gives you idea.

Basically mods would spin a wheel and then teams would get word they needed to spell out that week.

Rebecca (rebeccasg) | 3690 comments I'm Rebecca and I'm a challenge addict! When I have a stressful day, I pretend to work at my computer, but really I'm setting up new spreadsheets and scouring GR for books to fit. Productivity is productivity right?! It's okay that I'm not actually getting paid for this...right? And staying up late to read is better than getting 8 hours of sleep right?

If not this, then looking for books to fit into challenges that are starting in a week or two.

I'm constantly looking for books, planning my challenges, checking the library database, putting books on hold, running to the library before it closes so I can pick up 10 more books for challenges. And then there's the reading...

Dani (yogidani) | 181 comments I may or may not spend a couple hours updating all of my challenge lists after I've finished a book, and I'm totally okay with that. I wouldn't call myself an addict. Just someone who really really really likes lists....and reading.

And I may or not get giddy when I get close to the end of a book, knowing that I'll soon be editing my challenge lists once again.

message 49: by Cait S (new)

Cait S | 2825 comments Dani, you and I are exactly the same there. I'm obsessed with checking things off lists, filling in empty spots, etc. That's my favorite part of these things lol I love the challenge of hunting down a single book that will fill 10 spots and then getting to plug it in when I'm finished.

It's a fix. Luckily a cheap one.
