ISO beta reader of completed sci-fi novella, 43K words

Hi Mark! I will love to read your book. I like sci-fi (a lot) and I find your concept fresh, unique, and like something I'll definitely want to get my hands on.
Storytelling is integral to our development as a race and I'm keen to see how you flip this notion on its head with your protagonist—who honestly sounds like an interesting character.
I usually leave in-line comments on the shared document; prepare a report detailing my impressions and suggestions; and a questionnaire with 50+ questions on every aspect of the book.
Let me know if you've
got any specific questions and I'll add them to the questionnaire and expand on my answers in the report.
I sent you an email and my account is open if you'd like to chat some more.

This story started out as a way to examine the function of storytelling in human society by considering an intelligent civilization that does not have storytelling in its culture. What would such a civilization look like? How would it differ from humankind?
The story ends up being about the arc of a key protagonist, who starts out following the hero's journey, only to discover that the hero archetype is the wrong role model for this quest.
Tone:
Drama with liberal sprinkling of humor.
Heavy use of tropes, cliches, and easter eggs.
Audience:
GenZ, YA, Hard scif-fi enthusiasts
Main Themes:
The importance of storytelling in human society
Hero as antipattern
Tropes and memes in storytelling
This is a story about storytelling. The use of cliches is a big part of Human storytelling. Because we are deliberately being self-referential, we want to call out not just the big tools of storytelling (e.g., archetypes), but also the smaller ones (tropes, cliches).
