Task 3 - 3. Each player reads a book by a new to you author - no pass for this task.
To qualify for this task, the selected books need to be written by a new to you author. You may have other books by the selected author on your shelves, but only the book selected for this task can be marked as read/rated. Include a link to your read shelf in your completion post, ideally sorted to your selected author. Please make sure the book you read for this task is on your shelves and marked as read. If your profile is private, you will either need to open if for the duration of this task or friend me so I can confirm your book. If I cannot confirm your book, the task is not completed.

Review: I'm not really one for post-apocalyptic stories, and I'm an atheist so religion isn't really my bag either, but the cover on this one is gorgeous so I gave it a change and I'm really glad I did. The gore could be a lot at times, so really if you can't stomach that it's not a book I'd recommend; but if when you get past that I thought the heart of the story was really well done. There was some really incredible and imaginative world building, and some truly lovely characters and representation. I thought Benji was a great MC and even though they were struggling through a lot showed tremendous strength and growth throughout the story. I'll definitely pick up more from White in the future

Review: I have to say the author did a great job of pulling me into this story. I didn't like that boyfriend from the get-go, and never thought anything good could come from him. Same goes for that awful dad!
I did really like the author's writing style, and hopefully this is the start of a great career for them.

I hear you Janeylou - I've still got one left as well.

Ive finished all my SH books and posted , so thats 1 challenge off 😁

Task 4 - 12. Read a book recommended to you by a teammate - no pass for this task.
You can do the recommendations however you wish - to the group, to each individual, to the person below you on the list or ?? - it's up to you. If you want to provide a specific shelf to pick from, it needs to have a minimum of 10 books on it. Please include a link to the message with the recommendations in your completion posts.

Can we all check shelves and recommend a book to the other 3 that they havent read

So, i need to read a book that was a favourite of a friend ( Trio) and i also needed to read a book rated 1/2 by a fried ( Susan) ..surprisingly enough this book worked for both 🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️
Sorry Trio , but im on Susans side . I dont really like TB but this isnt one of his mega long political books so i thought id be ok . There's just something about his writing that just doesnt suit me , its too wordy, too OTT , too....everything .
I think this may be the last TB I read tbh

Task 4 - 12. Read a book recommended to you by a teammate - no pass for this task.

Black Moon by Sam Burns
Pages: 330
How it qualifies: recommended by Amanda (Strawberry Moon => series rule)
Read: September 27th
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Review:
Great story! I especially loved how omega Colt stood up against the alphas and their stereotyping. And Linden is going to be an awesome pack alpha. :)
Looking forward to reading more books of this series.

Face Blind by J.L. Merrow
274 Pages
How it qualifies: Recommended by Trio
Date Read: 9/25/2022
Rating 4 Stars
Review: I'm used to Merrow's more humorous works, but this was a much deeper more thought provoking read. If you're a fan of character driven stories with lots of growth this may just be a story for you. Adam and Corin have each recently been through a LOT, but they muddle through together and it was a beautiful story. I guessed one of the "twists" (Corrin's), not the other, but enjoyed both were there to add more depth and layers to everything going on rather than just being there for shock value. It was beautifully written from the developed characters to the rich and lovely setting. I think it could have used an epilogue, but maybe that was just me wanting more.

Line Mates & Study Dates by Eden Finley
308 pages
How it Fits: Caipi recommended Goal Lines & First Times, I'm reading the next book in the series
Caipi's Shelf
Read: 26 Sep
Rating: 4 stars
Review: Gosh dang this series is hot! Eden Finley and Saxon James' CU Hockey series are all standalones, and the audio versions are performed by Iggy Toma and Alexander Cendese.
I have to say, I thought Asher was going to be really different after the way they set up his character in Goal Lines & First Times,... and honestly, I'm glad. I thought Asher was going to be more of a trouble child, but Kole whips him into ship right quick.
There's fantastic chemistry between these two, and some decent hockey scenes too.

Caipi used the series rule as well, I'm sure it's fine!

Amanda , its up to you as you got the hard job ?

I'd be in if there's a spot left on the team. But if all from the last time want to play and we're one too many I'm happy to sit out this round.

This book isn't on Trio's list. Was it a rec from another teammate? If this isn't just a simple mix up of names and shelves, another book is going to need to fill this spot.
While we are waiting to figure out what happened with Janeylou's book for Task 4, I will assign Task 5. I will not assign Task 6 until Task 4 is resolved though.

Task 5 - 2. Each player reads the first book in a series, can be same or different series - no pass for this task.
Every teammates reads a book numbered 1 or lower in a numbered series listed on GR. Teammates can read the same or different series. Please include the series and number in your completion posts.

Come What May by A.M. Arthur
288 pages
How it Fits: #1 in series
Read: 29 Sep
Rating: 4 stars
Review:
A.M. Arthur certainly knows how to write abused and downtrodden characters. My heart went out to both of these boys, and I loved watching them brighten up each others' lives.
A nice performance in the audio version by Tyler Stevens.

Cutting It Close by Reese Knightley
Pages: 227
How it qualifies: #1 in the Code of Honor Series
Read: September 29th
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ (3.5)
Review:
Fast paced action, parts back home on the ranch in Texas and parts out on a mission. Since River's whole team was participating, there were a lot of characters to get to know, which was here and there confusing. But I think some of them are the main characters of the following books.
Now for the romance, I'm always so happy when a split couple gets a second chance! So of course I loved to see River and Maddox getting back together but honestly, why did Maddox during all the years never try to find River and tell him his reasons for breaking River's heart? I didn't get it.
One book for Amazing Race, Bingo and Hogwarts! :)

Still waiting for Brittany to announce her new challenge and quite a lot going on , so perhaps next time
