By profession I am a historian of religion. My field early Christian Origins.
Thus I am an avid reader of ancient history, mythology and literature. But I am also interested in English history. I thoroughly enjoyed Hilary Mantel's trilogy of Thomas Cromwell, and also many of Alison Weir and Philippa Gregory's books and I hope to connect here with like minded readers.

Thank you.

Welcome to our group.

No problem. Believe it or not, I also have a degree in Religious Studies, but my focus was on Asia (I hate to use the term Eastern). And I really love well-written historical fiction -- the Mantel books you mentioned were outstanding.
Anyway, welcome to the group. We have nice people here.

Welcome, Leelon.
Welcome, Leelon.

My favorite authors are mostly crime novelists like Douglas Kennedy, Peter Robinson, Mary Higgins Clark, Camilla Laeckberg, Stieg Larsson, Val McDermid, Nelson DeMille, Linwood Barclay etc.
I also enjoy reading (auto)biographies and non-fiction books on WW II.
I'm probably the oldest here in this group with 67 years of age. Today my husband and I celebrated our 12th wedding anniversary. In November we'll be together for 17 years. :)

Hi Thomas, it's nice to know that I'm not the oldest. In some of these Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ groups people are 16!
Hi I'm Brent, born and raised in Ontario, Canada. Recently moved back in with my parents, been getting into religious history aswell but enjoy thrillers. Picked up a copy of my favourite Stephen king story (apt pupil) the other day.

Hi Christine

Many thanks for welcoming me to this group! My name is Thomas Griffin, and I am a crime fiction novelist and freelance writer with a background in history. I grew up in the Finger Lakes Region in Upstate New York but spent extensive periods of time in New York City as well as Europe. For my crime fiction, I draw on my experiences living and working in both the US and Europe in particular on my time in Frankfurt. So far, I published two crime novels: A Cold Case

In this group, I very much look forward to connecting with like-minded readers and writers. I hope to exchange ideas and thoughts, learn about other people’s work, and would also greatly appreciate any feedback.
I recently created a new website () and started a newsletter! So, I welcome your subscription.
Best wishes,
Thomas

It's a high-tech thriller in the guise of a regional crime novel ala Pelecanos, Lippman and Michael Connelly. I'll let the reviews speak for it, but I'd love your views. It's currently on the kindle giveaways list. Thanks for your consideration.

Mysteries are a fairly new passion of mine, as I enjoy reading a variety of books, and mystery fell through the cracks for me for a while. I'm looking to expand my repertoire of books and read more of them. The best way to do that, I feel, is to immerse myself with lovers of the genre!

Hi Amanda, I can highly recommend a lovely mystery set in England by Peter Watson, "Landscape of Lies". It's out of print, but you can get it used at amazon.
Mary Higgins Clark wrote some great mysteries. My favorite is "Stillwatch", another good one is "Where are the Children?" and "Remember Me".
And then there is Isabelle Holland, Carlene Thompson (her oldest crime novels are great) and Susan Howatch who wrote a few modern gothics in the beginning, before she turned to the Church of England and wrote rather boring books.

Hi Amanda. I'm over the border in North Carolina.

After 25 years of writing, I published my first book - Illegal Maneuvers, a mystery - in 2021 and my second book - Payback, a suspense/thriller - in 2022.

Off topic a little, my daughter will be playing basketball for Gardner Webb University in Boiling Springs, NC for the next two years. She just left for summer workouts yesterday morning at the crack of early.

I wish her luck. That's about 70 miles east of me.

My name is Mark and I'm a readaholic.
Seriously, I'm an accountant by day, but I read as much as I can. I tend toward the cozy side of the mystery spectrum, but I do read other types of mysteries as well.

A high octane, action packed story of daring criminals, a chilling story of diabolical terrorist, explore the interesting world of the creative insanity of criminal mastermind , a narration of the excellence of the army, Intelligence agencies and professional criminals alike. A story that keeps you turning pages, a plot filled with enticing mystery entertaining suspense right up to the last word, if Mystery and suspense and military crime don't excite you as a thriller fan, I don't know what will.

I like reading anything as long as it holds my interest and gets my juices going in the reading department.
I found you by just looking at the popular groups on here and thought I'd jump on.
Any other questions you would like to know about me, just shout me xx

I am an MA publishing student. If anyone has two minutes of their time I would be so grateful if you could complete a really short survey about mystery novel preferences. I've put the link below

Mysteries and thrillers are what I pick up most often, but my degree is in History so I usually bounce back and forth between the Fiction world and the Non Fiction world depending on the mood.

Welcome. I'm across the mountains in western North Carolina. I went to college on your side years ago, in Maryville.

I'm from Thailand. My grandfather was British. My parents are both Thai. I'm in the UK just now studying history at university. My passion is to travel, but at present I'm basically penniless and for now will read my way around the world.

I'm a student from Britain. I've never been overseas and I'm wanting to read about life at all points of the compass.

I'm a surveyor, I own a sea kayak, live within a stone's throw of the briny and luckily work in coastal surveying.
I yearn for fiction that asks me think: join-the-dots, figure what is happening, where the plot is taking me.

I've just joined from upstate New York. Always looking for suggestions for new reads. I'm drawn to mysteries and spy thrillers. Making quick work of Slough House series, so looking for suggestions of where to go next!

I'm Patrick, a thriller writer, English teacher and mass consumer of Michael Connelly, Robert Harris, and all good thriller writers!
I recently devoured RJ Ross' Alexander Gregory series... who else loved those?! Just amazing.
Look forward to meeting some like minded peeps here!
Pat

I’m trying every day to be kind to the world we live in and wish to read about those things that touch the world we live in. I don’t do paranormal, sci-fi, romance, fantasy, role-play, etc: you get the picture.
I'm not an eco-zealot. I'm not at all interested in screaming and shouting about what's wrong, whilst throwing litter all over the place and running off. A few years back, I spent the day listening to Greta Thunberg, when she left so did the crowd: a sea of litter was left behind. From that day on, I've lived a simple life: reuse, repair, recycle. I grow my own. I use solar power whenever possible. I don't buy new clothes. I don't use make-up. I cycle everywhere. I'm self-employed and work making and repairing clothes: mostly for the little ones. Take an old coat, clean it and sew a few flowers on: like magic, it's new and can be sold at the farmer's market. I don't buy new books. I use the library or buy second-hand from the market. My table is next to the bookman's and we get on like a house on fire. And just like my grandparents did, who both kept their wits and lived to a fine old-age, I don't do heating. I do an extra jumper.
