Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 1012 comments Nice!

I'm hoping for a blue 2/3/6/skip next month, as I have one of those lined up to read already 😁

Sophie (drsophie) | 717 comments I've got a yellow and a red on the go that I'm going to drag out til 1st April in the hopes they work for a card next month.

Tina ❣ (nutrinut) | 283 comments I did end up getting sick. It felt like I had all the symptoms of a cold, the flu and covid, so I had no idea what I actually had. It took me a whole week to get over it! But I made use of my time and finished my last book for this month - Blood of Hercules.

We've finished our last regular card for March so we're just waiting for Karen's book to finish our last hand, and 4 book are left for the bonus. We can do it!

Tina ❣ (nutrinut) | 283 comments Update for April!

Our April cards are now out and about! We have a bunch of coloured cards, with the most in red and blue.

We have a new type of card to consider - the Overload card.

Wild Draw 4 cards are no longer in play. You get OVERLOAD cards instead! /topic/show/...

 What are Overload cards?

Overload cards are also cover colour cards, BUT they require different colours.
The colours you can use for Overload cards are the following:

- purple
- pink
- orange
- brown
- grey
- white
- black

You can only use each cover colour once. They are worth 30 points and don't have to fit any letters, only colours.

There is now a tab up in the tracking sheet for April with the cards listed there so you can start planning your books.

message 408: by Tina (new)

Tina ❣ (nutrinut) | 283 comments We've also finished all our hands for March which Karen read for the lucky last task. That's an amazing effort from everyone on the team!

We just have 3 more books for the March mini:
The Oathbound - Namita
Eternal Magic - Namita
Act Your Age, Eve Brown - Lauri

If you need any help Namita and Lauri, let us know. There's still 5 days left so that's heaps of time!

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 1012 comments Woot! I have an orange planned and was hoping it would come in handy! 😆 How To Stay Alive by Bear Grylls

also a white: The Idiot Gods by David Zindell (but may prefer to use it for the 5? Good with that either way!)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 1012 comments Opinion on whether this is red enough?

Wolves of the Calla (The Dark Tower, #5) by Stephen King (Red 5)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 1012 comments I've got a green 4 with the mid-month NBRC BOM 😁 Emily Wilde's Map of the Otherlands (Emily Wilde, #2) by Heather Fawcett

And a blue 7 with The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes (The Hunger Games, #0) by Suzanne Collins

ooohh they're tough!

For We Are Many doesn't look green enough to me. It's more yellow and I didn't play around with the screen brightness. I'd say no to this one :(

Wolves of the Calla look at least 50% red to me. Happy to hear others' opinions, or I can ask the captain's group if we're divided on it.

Tineye isn't happy with either.

Not sure if it's my screen, but The Idiot Gods looks like is has a light blue where the orca is. What does it show for you Sammy? That book looks amazing. Can't wait to hear what your thoughts are on it!

Woohoo for an orange!

Good choices! I've got to get my hand on book 2 of Emily Wilde. I enjoyed the first book!

It looks blue-ish on my screen too, but I have the paperback copy in my hand and I don't see it there. Either way, feel free to use it for a 5 instead if it's too iffy!

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 1012 comments Tina wrote: "Tineye isn't happy with either"

Tineye is never happy with anything. I expect it to tell me my orange book is purple or somesuch 😆

I'll add wolves in for now, but again, if it gets knocked back on the red, it can just be a plain 5 again.

All of the books I've thrown up so far are ones I'm reading for another challenge, so I'm just happy to slot them in somewhere or other 😆

Kelly (Maybedog) (maybedog) | 152 comments I'm in the process of choosing April books for another really complicated challenge. It's going to take me a few days. But when I have those chosen, I'll see how I can help with whatever color cards are still available at that point.

message 419: by Sophie (new)

Sophie (drsophie) | 717 comments Yellowface by R.F. Kuang

A Dying Light in Corduba (Marcus Didius Falco, #8) by Lindsey Davis

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 1504 comments I just saw that Sophie has a Yellow 3 - I haven't started Meet Cute so I'll save this one for another UNO..

Sammy, I was already reading The Autumn Throne for Red 5, hopefully it may fit another one of the Reds or use for a plain 5 .

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 1504 comments I've got a couple that fit brown as well so I'll take that colour.

It is very close, but I'm not sure close enough

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 1504 comments Here's my Brown book -

The Rift Walker (Vampire Empire, #2) by Clay Griffith

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 1504 comments I just had a look at Meet Cute by Helena Hunting .

The female MC is Kailyn Flowers so I can read it for Yellow 4. 😊

That will be pretty much it for me as I am going on holidays on the 10th April. I'm not taking my laptop so only will have my kindle and phone.. I'll still be reading but nowhere near as much, too much sightseeing and eating to be done. 😍

message 432: by Karen ⊰✿, Avaricious Reader (new)

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 1504 comments I forgot I've been saving this one and it fits for Red 9 .

A Nobleman's Guide to Seducing a Scoundrel (The Doomsday Books, #2) by K.J. Charles

It will be a good plane read.

Karen ⊰✿ | 3762 comments I can do white
Talking to Strangers What We Should Know About the People We Don't Know by Malcolm Gladwell

and this works for 9 Blue.
At the Breakfast Table by Defne Suman
Potentially 4 Blue - Although there is reference to a F character in the synopsis I'm not sure if they are an actual character

Thank you!

Lauri (otwlauri) | 935 comments I can cover Yellow 7 with The Reading List by Sara Nisha Adams by Sara Nisha Adams. Character Vritti.

Also a Blue 4 or 9 with Recipe for Persuasion (The Rajes, #2) by Sonali Dev by Sonali Dev. It has characters for both 4 - Fredrick and 9 Nina.

I can’t seem to get them onto the spreadsheet. I can’t open it up to show the color covers for some reason.

Could someone add me on for those, please? Sorry to be such a pain!

Added. I figure the book has to be used in a hand to be used for a mini. I don't know if it's a blue something but I put it for T, H, and E.

You're not a pain! It's a technical issue and I don't mind helping.

In case these don't get used for color cards, I added them to these cards:
The Reading List, #3 in series, AFN: Sara, CFN: Vriti.
Recipe for Persuasion, #2 in series, CFN: Frederick, AFN: Sonali, CFN: Nina
