HMMMMM- I think that there were 2 Julie's when I went back to read the thread it looked like one of the julie's- not me had responded. MaybeI will go back and check your suggestions to see if anything sound good anyway!
this is fun-

I'm totally game, just let me know whom should I cover ;)

Thank you, Yz! It's nothing compare to all the work and effort you and Kasia put into all the challenges and the group. Thank you so much for that!

Thanks, Photojim! Also thank you all for participating, am having a lot of fun with the challenge again this month.

The audio version of Ender's Game was great! I listened to the 20th Anniversary Edition (I think the chief narrator was Stefan Rudnicki?), and the different voices really made it entertaining. At the end of the book there is also a reading of an interview with the author about the origins of the story and his inspiration.

Although you're a few days late for sign-up, i think you can still participate. We have 2 people that can make recommendations and 3, including myself, volunteered to have a few books recommended to them.

You can make recommendations to any of these members:
Gigi
Harper
Rossy
Karina

Wow Mary! *bows down* That was fast my friend.LOL
I'm still waiting for the 2 books i ordered for this challenge.
Hmmm, since you're done would you like Kasia or Karina to make a recommendation for you? I would include Pollyana but i think she's on digest now.

I haven't even started my recs for Feb yet. I suppose I should have clarified that I read Ender's Game back in November'09, I was just so impressed with the audio that I feel the need to chime in whenever someone mentions they plan to read it LOL. ;)

1)

I hear there's a Blood and Chocolate movie, which is really crappy and has little to do with the book. So if you've seen the movie (I haven't), please don't take it against the book. What Annette Curtis Klause reads easy since it's on the ya side, and has great psychology woven into it. And some action of course, and romace.
2)

This one is new, shiny, fun and totally differet. It's a book that's got it all. It's humorous, freah, there's a handsome hunk, weres, vamps plus the whole steampunk thing. Really worth checking out.
3)

This book kicks ass, and is pretty steamy while at it. To the point of being naughty. You'd eat it up, I'm sure.
Actually, I ate up all 3 of those books. I hope at least one of them would strike your fancy. If I'm totally off, let me know, I'll try to think of something else.

this is fun- "
Julie, I went and took a look at your shelves, and I'm dying to recommend a title for you...except, I see it's already on your tbr pile, so I'll just recommend you move it to the top! Graceling by Kristin Cashore. I'm sure you'll love it! :O)

I wish! I haven't even finished one book for Feb yet (and I usually average one every two days). I keep see-sawing back and forth between two books right now. I started Poltergeist but I couldn't stay focused on it because I knew I had Death's Mistress waiting for me LOL! Plus I'm listening to The Hunger Games... I usually limit my audiobook time to back/forth work commutes, but this one is so engrossing I've been sneaking my iPod into bed with me at night (effectively cutting into my reading time). *sigh* Sometimes I just wish I could quit my job and read full-time! :)

Oh you're not the only one who wishes to quit the job and just read full-time!
I ordered Hunger Games recently as well, too many good reviews to pass up. Right now am in a Troubleshooters marathon. I have many books to get through.

I'm having a hard time picking. I'm going to go with 'Night Life', but will be putting the other one on my TBR list. :)

I'm having a hard time picking. I'm going to go with 'Night Life', but will be putting the other one on my TBR list. :)

Thanks for the recs! I'm going to choose "Soulless." I was actually kind of curious about this book - I'd even checked it out at the store recently - but I wasn't 100% sure about it, so I never bought it. I'll use this challenge as an excuse to read it!
BTW, I have seen the "Blood and Chocolate" movie and I didn't like it much. I'll have to check out that book, too, eventually. I know not to judge a book by its movie. :)

Sorry to keep you waiting...
Hopefully at least one of these will work for you - and, learning from our groaning TBR shelves - I have tried to steer clear of series books.

Thanks for volunteering to recommend something for me, Annie! All of them look like wonderful picks and are going on my TBR list. The Paid Companion is the one I can get the quickest so I am going with it for this challenge. I will read the others at some point too. Thanks again!

Happy to help! That book is very likeable.
Harper wrote: "BTW, I have seen the "Blood and Chocolate" movie and I didn't like it much."
That's what I keep hearing, and that's why peeps get weary of the book, but the bad rep is undeserved. If you ever stumble upon it, I do recommend it, but of course no pressure.

Well, go to the library! Can't afford to buy books - spend too much on coffee!

*edit* I also haven't read that one yet. I saw it yesterday but was able to resist. I'm sure I'll succumb this week though.

Hi Corrupt and Photojim,
FYI- I just read Lead Me On last week and it stands alone pretty well. There is no reference to the mystery that is solved in the first two books so it would not ruin anything as far as that goes. Really the only reference to the previous books is just some interactions with the previous couples near the end so you know that they are still together and happy :) In my humble opinion Talk Me Down was the weakest of the series. I like Start Me Up and Lead Me On both much better and I think Lead Me On was the strongest. The whole series was very enjoyable. Happy reading Corrupt! I will look forward to seeing what you think!

Hey I thought I'd recommend some books for you, I notice you are a chick lit fan and so you have to read Marian Keyes lol I would class her as one of the best chick lit writers :)
Angels: A Novel by Marian Keyes - this was the first one I read and couldn't put it down.
The Other Woman's Shoes by Adele Parks - another great chick lit author.
I also noticed you have quite a few classics on your tbr list and one of my favourite classic authors is Thomas Hardy, I think you might like him.
Tess of the D'Urbervilles by Thomas Hardy

I'd agree that Start Me Up is better only because I thought Lori Love was da'Bomb! I loves me a sassy heroine. (sorry about the lack of English skillz, you watch one bad episode of Fresh Prince and it just sticks with you for days) But seriously, I read some reviews this morning and will definitely be reading this by this weekend.

Thanks-- I keep thinking my pile can't get any bigger but it does. I just got a new e-book reader so I am excited to use it but too broke to buy new books yet!

Oh I loved Lori Love! And I loved that Quinn called her "Lori Love"! I agree, she is da bomb! LOL Hope you enjoy Lead Me On. I would love to hear what you think.

I am hoping that I can head out tomorrow before the blizzard hits and get the others to have a some reading material while being stuck indoors.
The Crush by Sandra Brown (suspense/romance)
Scent of Danger by Andrea Kane (suspense/romance)
P.S. I love you by Cecilia Ahern
He Loves Lucy by Susan Donovan (contemporary romance)

Thanks I'm hoping to read the Marian Keyes novel next week, cause I'm reading the Color Purple now, but thank you so much for your recommendation.

Karina, you're going to end up loving Marian Keyes. She's an auto-buy for me.
The book Polyanna is part of a series actually about the Walsh sisters. While you don't have to read it in order, unless you're OCD like me, here is the sequence:
1. Watermelon
2. Rachel's Holiday
3. Angels: A Novel
4. Anybody Out There?
While they were all VERY good, Anybody Out There? was truly fantastic. If you get a chance, i recommend you read that one as well.

Yeah I've read them all, but Angels is my fave of the series. Anybody out there is very good, I agree.

Thanks Pollyannna, I can't wait to read the whole series.

Thank you for your recommendations! They all seem very interesting :3 I haven't chosen one yet, but I'm leaning towards Deadly Little Secrets. Who doesn't love romance? x3

Brita, Thank you su much for your recomendations and so sorry for the delay respond. I will love to read the A living Nightmare. I'm looking foward to it, but if for any reason I couldn't get a copy of it I will read Fallen or Hush Hush. Both are authors I never read anything from them and lucky me I got a copy of both books in my house waiting for me to start reading them. I will definitly let you know about it.

I finished reading Strange Brew and I enjoyed it for the most part. The beginning stories were much better then the end ones.
I really liked: Seeing Eye, by Patricia Briggs, Death Warmed Over, by Rachel Caine, and Vegas Odds, by Karen Chance. The first and last had werewolf heroes, which I apparently like, and the middle story, though kind-of creepy, had an interesting love story.
I didn't really like the last two: Ginger, by Caitlin Kittredge had an obnoxious heroine and Dark Sins by Jenna Maclaine had a horrible ending.
Overall I gave it 4/5 and will check out other stories by a few of the authors, so thank you for the recommendation!
My Review

I checked out both The Summoning and the Endearment from the library. I just finished the Summoning and it was very interesting! I am immediately going to order the next book in the series. I loved the suspense and sort of the irony of her Aunt. It's almost a bit scary too. Usually, I tell myself I am not a huge sci-fi fantasy reader, but books like these are far from Harry Potter fantasy. So thank you for the recommendation!!
