Bill (kernos) | 324 comments I remember the book cover from the 2nd book in the series: A handsome guy in chains surrounded by a bunch of black and brown, savage dogs. Their was a high king who has sisters, one who is fighting him for sovereignty. The book has strong male and female protagonists, is epic fantasy and was written by a women. I can even see the map in my head, but cannot remember any place-names. I've a good visual memory, but a poor verbal memory.

Does this sound familiar to anyone?

Wow! You ladies are GOOD! I mean really GOOD! Just from a description of the cover, you are able to identify title and author. Amazing! ;-)

Aw, shucks.

But we don't have confirmation from Kernos that we were right.

BTW, here's the cover we were envisioning:

And what looks like another case of Rottweiler abuse. :)

Mine, on the other hand, are so spoiled:

That's a great pair of rotties!

My wife and I had a large female rottie that was just a magnificent animal. Unfortunately, after nearly 14 years we had to have her put to sleep as her hip had just degenerated to the point that the old gal just couldn't walk. It nearly broke our hearts. It has been nearly three years, and I still miss that dog ever-so-much. Cheers!

Bill (kernos) | 324 comments That's it! Thanks. I had a dream about the cover, enjoyed the series, but lost track and didn't finish the series. I have not read book's 5&6, but would want to re-read the entire series again.

OT: I love Rottweiler's. In fact I am looking for 2 more puppies - a MinPin and either a chocolate lab or a Rott. BTW, do Rottweiler's range far or stay close at home. I have had trouble keeping German Shepard Dogs since they range so widely.

What do you think of this series?

I've always kept my Rotts penned/kenneled or in the house with me, so I'm not much help with how far ranging they are. Sorry. The couple of times they've slipped out the gate, they've not wandered far, though. Probably because all they are is walking stomachs looking for their next meal and they know where they can get that! :)

I think I finished this series, but I can't say that I 'liked' it. It's been so long, however, I can't remember much about it and would have to re-read it to be sure (and no time to do that this month!).

Jim (jimmaclachlan) Our Rott never wandered far, but neither did our Shepards. They were all bitches, though. Every male we had wandered a lot more, no matter what the breed.

Aw, Melt Puddle on the Rotties. My neighbor has had several; they would make nice to a crook.

Didn't finish that series. Surely someone about could give you a clearer opinion? I recall that the author placed quite a lot of effort on religion based medieval politics, which perhaps made the scholarly aspects the most unique and praiseworthy feature...

I finished the whole series not too long ago. It gets a bit bogged down around books 4 and 5, but picks up in book 6 and finishes very well. If you read and enjoyed the first 4, you'd probably enjoy the last 3 as well.
