GTK, Jenne. I have Blood on Silk TBR and keep forgetting about it. I've read the first Graveyard Queen & short and look forward to getting to #2 soon as well.

Alyssa (lyssad87) | 974 comments I just finished Covet (The Fallen Angels, #1) by J.R. Ward , and I've started Lover Reborn (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #10) by J.R. Ward , cuz I can't wait. Yay! :-D

message 354: by Paris (last edited Apr 04, 2012 01:16PM) (new)

Paris (pah13) | 1183 comments I have currently started reading 5 books Sacrificial Magic (Downside Ghosts, #4) by Stacia Kane Royal Street (Sentinels of New Orleans, #1) by Suzanne Johnson The Darkest Passion (Lords of the Underworld, #5) by Gena Showalter The Nightmare Garden (Iron Codex, #2) by Caitlin Kittredge Blood on Silk (Awakened by Blood, #1) by Marie Treanor (6 if you count a short Heart of Darkness (Includes Lords of the Underworld, #4.5) by Gena Showalter ) and I can't seem to focus on any of them even though I'm dying to read them. Plus I have a whole slew of books waiting in the wings. Argh!! This always seems to happen to me when I have a huge TBR pile actually in my home. When I'm lacking things to read I can't seem to read enough. What the heck is that about?

Valerie ~ Val Hall ~ | 9652 comments Maybe you need to take a breather? They seem to be good books (only know half of them). Go for another genre before you come back to them? Sometimes it helps for me.

thanks. That's an idea. I do have some other things I want to read. Hopefully that'll do the trick. Although this weird lack of focus is affecting me in other aspects of my life. I am easily distracted lately (in fact I got distracted twice while writing this). That oculd be a contributing factor to this too. I guess I'll know if reading something else doesn't do the trick.

Valerie ~ Val Hall ~ | 9652 comments I am no serial reader, I need variety. I always jump form series to series...maybe that's why I started so many I can't keep up.

I'm usually like that, but lately I've been reading series back to back if there are a ton of books already out. Usually I just go with whatever I can get from the library, but I've been buying more books lately and series like the Lords of the Underworld haven't been difficult to get from the library.

message 360: by Alyssa (new)

Alyssa (lyssad87) | 974 comments I own every single LotU book. And I've only read through Book 4, The Darkest Whisper (Lords of the Underworld, #4) by Gena Showalter . I managed to read the first 3 or 4 right in a row before I got burnt out from them. Need to get back to them soon.

Valerie ~ Val Hall ~ | 9652 comments I so need to read Paris's book...somehow i am not in the mood either.

message 362: by Lis (new)

Lis | 4034 comments Read The Shadow Reader (McKenzie Lewis, #1) by Sandy Williams and recently finished Natural Evil (Elder Races, #4.5) by Thea Harrison and Oracle's Moon (Elder Races, #4) by Thea Harrison which I loved...

Currently reading Shadow's Fall (Shadow World, #3) by Dianne Sylvan which I know is going to have another cliff hanger, and listening to Lover Reborn (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #10) by J.R. Ward

message 363: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32592 comments Rats! Another cliffhanger? I've got that (Shadow Fall) TBR and wanted to start it soon-ish. Boo! Oh well, I'll still read it, but least now I know. ;) Howzit so far, Liz?

message 364: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25889 comments Wow, no one told me SF was due. Damn.

Just finished Embrace The Darkness (Guardians of Eternity, #2) by Alexandra Ivy and it was surprisingly good :)

message 365: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32592 comments Sorry. Go grab it! :D

I haven't read that series, but have many of the books in it on my shelf.

message 366: by Kerstin (new)

Kerstin | 862 comments I had a slow month so far and only read The Reapers Are the Angels by Alden Bell and Timeless (Parasol Protectorate, #5) by Gail Carriger . Really enjoyed both of them.
Up next is Storm's Heart (Elder Races, #2) by Thea Harrison

message 367: by Lis (new)

Lis | 4034 comments SF is pretty good so far. It starts off a few years later with the council meeting in TX which brings Deven back...

message 368: by Christine (new)

Christine | 850 comments I'm reading Lover Reborn (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #10) by J.R. Ward and the first hundred pages really, really ticked me off. The second hundred pages were not nearly as irritating so there is still hope...

D.G. | 2752 comments Valerie ~ Val Hall ~ wrote: "I am no serial reader, I need variety. I always jump form series to series...maybe that's why I started so many I can't keep up."

Me too! I can't read a series back to back unless it's REALLY good and usually I don't read more than 2 or 3 books in a row.

When I'm in a funk, switching genres always does it.

message 371: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments Me three!! :) I need variety by genres too.

message 372: by Leah (new)

Leah | 880 comments I used to always read the whole series at once, but I've slowly converted to skipping around series to series. Otherwise it gets too repetitive and my eyes just end up glazing over as I read the books....

message 373: by Literary Ames (new)

Literary Ames (amyorames) | 1854 comments I've read Wool by Hugh Howey The Calling (Darkness Rising, #2) by Kelley Armstrong Wild Cat (Shifters Unbound, #3) by Jennifer Ashley Tempting the Beast by Lora Leigh Desperate Measures (A Regency Short Story) by Candice Hern The Trouble With Harry by Katie MacAlister Weird Things Customers Say in Bookshops by Jen Campbell

The last one was my favourite. A beautiful and hilarious book. People are strange.

message 374: by Lisa M (new)

Lisa M (lamessegee) | 171 comments Reading Bear Meets Girl (Pride, #7) by Shelly Laurenston but it's slow going. I can't wait for Tiger (New Species, #7) by Laurann Dohner to come out on Tuesday!

message 375: by Paris (new)

Paris (pah13) | 1183 comments I finished Blood on Silk (Awakened by Blood, #1) by Marie Treanor and Royal Street (Sentinels of New Orleans, #1) by Suzanne Johnson so now it's back to Sacrificial Magic (Downside Ghosts, #4) by Stacia Kane and starting Wild Wild Death (Pepper Martin #8) by Casey Daniels . I'm still gonna make the Lords of the Underworld wait. Not quite ready to jump into those again.

Valerie ~ Val Hall ~ | 9652 comments Reading King of Sword and Sky (Tairen Soul, #3) by C.L. Wilson . Each book is more epic than the previous ones. It is addicting.

message 377: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25889 comments Just finished Alien Diplomacy (Katherine "Kitty" Katt, #5) by Gini Koch Another great Kitty Katt book!!!!!

message 378: by Josie (new)

Josie | 1967 comments Val, that's very good to hear! I've only read the first but looking forward to the rest :D

@Sandra: Yay!! Mine arrived yesterday so I might have a Kitty Katt marathon soon. Although when I got it, my sis looked at the cover and was like "what's wrong with her leg??" I have to admit, it does look a bit weird lol.

Just finished Matched by Ally Condie . Really liked the beginning and then it descended into sappiness via poetry *sigh*

I'm reading Nine Rules to Break When Romancing a Rake (Love By Numbers #1) by Sarah MacLean . Random, I know :)

message 379: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25889 comments Josie, it's a horrible cover, though having read the story the background sorta makes sense, but Kitty just looks all wrong.

message 380: by Christine (new)

Christine | 850 comments I just started Angelfall (Penryn & the End of Days, #1) by Susan Ee . I'm only about 25% into it, but I love it so far.

The Kingdom was one of the best books I've read this year. If you liked the first one I recommend reading #2 ASAP!

I finished up the Georgina Kincaid series last night Succubus Revealed (Georgina Kincaid, #6) by Richelle Mead I'm sad it's over. Next up is Caressed by Night (Rulers of Darkness, #2) by Amanda J. Greene which is another series I'm highly addicted to!

message 382: by Josie (new)

Josie | 1967 comments Yeah, pretty terrible. As long as the book's awesome though! I love these ones in the series Alien Tango (Katherine "Kitty" Katt, #2) by Gini Koch Alien in the Family (Katherine "Kitty" Katt, #3) by Gini Koch Alien Proliferation (Katherine "Kitty" Katt, #4) by Gini Koch . They are very cool, I imagine her like #2 and #4 :)

Angelfall is excellent, Christine! We're all just waiting for the next one lol :P

Wait! What's wrong with this cover? I don't know about you, but I always practice my Captain Morgan pose when I have on an evening dress. Sadly, I rarely have a weapon at the same time.

message 385: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25889 comments Funnily enough I saw the video of them making the cover incl the model and how they got her to pose like that. It didn't make any sense then & even less now I've got the book in front of me.

The background makes sense having read the book but she is just all wrong.

message 386: by Jackie M (new)

Jackie M | 695 comments I am reading Lover Reborn (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #10) by J.R. Ward and it's just not doing it for me. So far it's just okay.

message 400: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32592 comments Jenne, which ROOK have you started? The one (cover) in your post or Gin's? I ask b/c I started listening to the audio of the one by Daniel O'Malley and it was very interesting, but confusing. I had to put it aside b/c I didn't/don't have time to pay as close attention as needed to fully understand all that is going on. I'm definitely lookin' forward to getting back to it soon though. Just curious if it's the same one you're reading and if so, how you're liking it.
