If you'd like an alternative to paying someone, my husband and I have used themeforest Wordpress templates for all of our sites, and I used one as the splash page for my book (pickyourlife.com). It's a learning curve at first, but if you already use a little html, learning WP is definitely a skill worth having.

Anyone in need of a author website, check out where you can not only get a website but also get your book optimized on google so more people can find it.

I would NOT recommend hiring a web designer, sorry everyone. You can design your own website for FREE (I can show you where, and even if you create a site for your book, you probably won't get sales from it. I spent over $1500 to get a website up, and didn't get one book sale from it. Such a waste of time & money for authors, in my opinion, at least when you're first starting out. I'm the author of . I also manage book projects for people who don't have time to publish their own book, and do to teach people how to publish and market their book for FREE. Yes, I spent $2000+ getting my book published, but I help other authors avoid my costly mistakes. I give discounts on my checklist & video tutorial to people who ask nicely too. :)

I disagree, I think you need to hire someone to design your site. You should never self-edit, design your own cover, create your own site or cut your own hair. Tons of less expensive options out there, too. Take a look at: - we've used them.

I just looked through WordPress themes, twice, and could not find Themeforest.

For those who already know how to move around a Wordpress web site for instance, I occasionally give away free templates in zip file format that you can just download for free from my site and install onto your own.
No strings attached ...

Themeforest is not a theme - it is actually an "estore" that has many themes you can purchase. ProTip - if you decide to go this route make sure the theme you are choosing has good reviews particularly regarding support and updates.

Well, it's certainly busy. Perhaps a little too busy. I found it hard to decide what I wanted to look at and in the end gave up.
There's a saying some chef's use which I think applies to website design too, 'less is more.'
