~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) | 1934 comments Hi Pollyanna, No worries!! Hope you had a great time on your weekend. I just get impatient to figure out what I'm reading for the month:=}

Thanks for the picks! They look great. I am definitely going to read The Summoning. I have never read this author before and I love trying new series.

I will also read His Darkest Hunger. This is a free book I picked up recently and it looks very good. Thanks for picking it as it probably would've sat on my Nook for awhile!

And if I have time I will read Retribution. Years ago I worked at a rape crisis center as a victim advocate and actually had a client who's rapist opted to defend himself and was allowed to cross-examine her. Never forgot that, and this book's premise reminds me of that.

Thanks again for the picks!

Lady Allison | 118 comments Hi, ~KarenH~! Thanks for your patience, I had a terrible weekend, but today is a new day! & here are your picks - as always, let me know if you need me to pick again :)

May is Loyalty Month - Nice Girls Don't Have Fangs by Molly Harper is one of my favorite funny vamp series & will have you laughing out loud! Jane is a one of a kind heroine & makes you shake your head & smile throughout the story.

May is Graduation Time - I just finished reading Divergent by Veronica Roth for a PIFM & I loved it. It wasn't nearly as depressing as some dystopias are & the writing was really captivating. & if you choose this, you won't have to wait as long as everyone else for the 2nd book since it comes out tomorrow! :)

International Space Day, May 4 - I've heard great things about J.D. Robb's In Death series & they're in the future so start with the first one, Naked in Death

Join Hands Day, May 4 - It doesn't look like you read a lot of YA, but it's really changed in recent years & appeals to all ages. If you're interested in broadening your horizons, check out Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater for a beautifully written story about wolves & first love.

Tourist Appreciation Day, May 6 - Doesn't everyone want to visit Paris?! The City of Lights, of Love, of Chance ~ everything we associate with romance! It's nonfiction, but Eloisa James' tale of packing up & moving to France sounds like a story I'd want to hear while sipping coffee at a cafe & looking through all her pictures - take a chance on Paris in Love: A Memoir (this isn't a buddy read section, but I'd totally read this with you!)

National Teacher Day, May 8 - I don't read a whole lot of nonfiction, but I really enjoyed Me Talk Pretty One Day by David Sedaris, a great nonfic writer.

Armed Forces Day, May 18 - My absolute FAVORITE military/special ops series is the Queen of Suspense, Suzanne Brockmann! It looks like you've read the second of her Troubleshooters series, so either read the first one The Unsung Hero, or catch up on number three Over the Edge one of my favorites in the series.

Maritime Day, May 22 - Jennifer Crusie is the queen of chick lit & beach reads! If you haven't read her lately, do! She's so funny & always has interesting things to say about relationships through her stories - a personal favorite is Bet Me

Buddy Reads:

Clean Up Your Room Day, May 10 - l love, love, love Lisa Kleypas but have yet to read either Midnight Angel or Somewhere I'll Find You, shall we catch up together?

Chocolate Chip day, May 15 - I'm up for anything smexy! How about a Lora Leigh or About a Dragon by G.A. Aiken?

Nice Girls Don't Have Fangs (Jane Jameson, #1) by Molly Harper Divergent (Divergent, #1) by Veronica Roth Naked in Death (In Death, #1) by J.D. Robb Shiver (The Wolves of Mercy Falls, #1) by Maggie Stiefvater Paris in Love A Memoir by Eloisa James Me Talk Pretty One Day by David Sedaris The Unsung Hero (Troubleshooters, #1) by Suzanne Brockmann Over the Edge (Troubleshooters, #3) by Suzanne Brockmann Bet Me by Jennifer Crusie Midnight Angel (Stokehurst, #1) by Lisa Kleypas Somewhere I'll Find You (Capital Theatre, #1) by Lisa Kleypas About a Dragon (Dragon Kin, #2) by G.A. Aiken
(does anyone know why the pictures are formatting weird?)

Alyssa! Thank you so much for the great picks! I would LOVE to read Once Burned (VLAD! Woot!) but unfortunately it's not out until end of June :( But let's totally buddy read it when it is out! So, I'll be reading To The Edge by Cindy Gerard this month, looks like a good series!

I hope that you find a book or two that you'll enjoy :)

1. The Perfect Play: Any of the books in this series are yummy! Also, The Peach Keeper I love Sarah Addison Allen

2. Delirium, Before I Fall, and Vixen

3. Storm's Heart and really anything by Kresley Cole A Hunger Like No Other

4. Long Hard Ride: I really liked this series. The first and second books weren't my favorite but I really liked the others

5. The Russian Concubine and The Red Scarf: I loved the Russian influence in these books. The Russian Concubine has a mix of Russian and Chinese influence, I really enjoyed them.

6. To Kill a Mockingbird

7. The Darkest Hour: I enjoyed this series as well. Each book goes with a different brother until the fifth book.

8. The Summer I Turned Pretty: This is a YA, but it's a great summer beach read as it mostly takes place in the summer on the beach =)

9. Divergent

10. The Sugar Queen

Hi Lady Allison, thanks for the picks! I'm definitely planning on reading Nice Girls Don't Have Fangs and Over the Edge. I'm not sure about the buddy read yet - I've already got a buddy read planned of a different Lisa Kleypas book (Stranger in My Arms) and I'm not sure I want to read two in one month (as much as I do like her stuff). Depending on how my other challenges fit together I might be able to read About a Dragon later in the month, though - or maybe Lora Leigh, I haven't read anything by her in quite a while! I'll let you know once I get things a little bit more organized. Thanks again for the picks!

I would like to try the buddy read of Moonlight Warrior if you're interested - I would have to put on hold from library as well so maybe mid to late month if we both get it.

I am definitely interested in reading "Moonlight Warrior." I just checked, and I'm first in line for the hold at the library, so hopefully we'll both get it before the month is over! Just let me know when you get your copy.

As for the other books, I think you'll really enjoy them all!!
