August Challenge - You CAN judge a book by it's cover!
I chose this book due to the beautiful cover. The blurb sounded great too. I'm reading it at the moment but I'm not convinced yet.
The Venetian Contract

Looks lovely Gina:) You'd better slow down though, as there's still 11 days till you can start;P lol

I'm choosing to read Puppy Love
by Frauke Scheunemann
I bought this solely for the cover some time back, and haven't got around to reading it yet, so now's my chance!!!

That’s a possibility. I was only planning on reading only 1 book for the horror challenge but now I’m up to my 3rd book so yes that could happen :)
Good way to get my TBR list down.
I'm going to start by making a shelf for Divine Covers. :)

Haha!! Yes I read 3 for horror too, and that's not even my genre!! Oh I do so want to bring it down faster than it's going up, but it just doesn't want to happen!! The book fairies are conspiring against me!! lol

Here's my list. Will figure out which I'm going to read soon.
Of course there are more, but this is a good start. (Some of the books aren't available yet but I had to include them:)) I've noticed I have a thing for flowing dresses, crows/ravens and Nick Cave :D

That's a brilliant idea Gina, I might do the same myself:)

These are gorgeous Gina - I really like the covers on Come Fall & Stormdancer

I see a bit of a theme here, Georgina!
There are certainly some gorgeous covers out there!
Come Fall sounds really good, and I love the cover too:)

Enjoyed that one! Waiting for next in the series. Love the photographs too of course (I'm a photographer, ex art school etc).

Do it all the time, unashamedly! I think the artwork is really important too. I also find books based on authors I like, and through reviewers I'm following.
I rarely buy a book solely for the cover, but find I have some with really beautiful/classy/spectacular covers anyway! So it makes it easy to pick from what I already own. I also like the cover of White Horse
so I might read it as well!

And also thinking about John Banville's "Ancient Light" (sorry I don't know how to link the books cover)

Jess, I also don't know how to link covers here! Maybe someone can explain?

Jess & Trina
Click on 'add book/author' located at the top of the comments box
Type in the title of the book and then click search. At the bottom you've got the option to tick 'link' or 'cover'...tick cover

Haha!! Bought this from work when we had the big sale on Jess:)

Any of you newbies who're not sure, and we may not be around to answer your questions, (heaven forbid!!) you can get lots of answers here http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/3...

I know I wont get to read all of them, but I will get through some of them.
I've already started reading

Some beautiful covers there....that's great Isabel..hope you've been having a wonderful holiday:)

Yes I agree with you there Sandra ;) lol

That might even be three people, if I decide to do the challenge:)
I've recently bought 3 books solely based on the covers. And borrowed a book from a friend three months ago based on the cover which I haven't read yet (so maybe I should).

That's unusual Katie. It makes you wonder where they get their ideas, these cover designers!!

To help your TBR list get smaller, see if you can take books from there for this challenge...but if you can't, your library, or purchasing is fine!
Some added information, it's also the Melbourne Writers Festival from 23 August to 2 September 2012....so maybe an Aussie Author would suit!
