This month, your challenge is to read a book or books that you judge SOLELY by their cover! When you have chosen your books, put the covers in this thread, to entice others, and show off your choices:)

To help your TBR list get smaller, see if you can take books from there for this challenge...but if you can't, your library, or purchasing is fine!

Some added information, it's also the Melbourne Writers Festival from 23 August to 2 September 2012....so maybe an Aussie Author would suit!

Some hints for:

Creative Covers:

Colourful Covers:

Love the Cover:

Find your creative self, choose a cover you love, curl up and ENJOY!

I chose this book due to the beautiful cover. The blurb sounded great too. I'm reading it at the moment but I'm not convinced yet. The Venetian Contract by Marina Fiorato The Venetian Contract

I bought this solely for the cover some time back, and haven't got around to reading it yet, so now's my chance!!!

Nice Mish:) You know you could read all three;P

That’s a possibility. I was only planning on reading only 1 book for the horror challenge but now I’m up to my 3rd book so yes that could happen :)

Good way to get my TBR list down.

message 12: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm going to start by making a shelf for Divine Covers. :)

Enjoyed that one! Waiting for next in the series. Love the photographs too of course (I'm a photographer, ex art school etc).

message 25: by Jess (new)

Jess (jessiquie) Ohh, this looks like fun. I might hit up my local Library at the begining of August and pick the books based soley on the cover that way :)

message 26: by Vanessa (new)

Vanessa | 16 comments It is actually really hard to pick something just based on cover...

message 27: by [deleted user] (new)

Do it all the time, unashamedly! I think the artwork is really important too. I also find books based on authors I like, and through reviewers I'm following.

message 28: by Brenda, Aussie Authors Queen (new)

Brenda | 79133 comments Mod
I rarely buy a book solely for the cover, but find I have some with really beautiful/classy/spectacular covers anyway! So it makes it easy to pick from what I already own. I also like the cover of White Horse White Horse by Alex Adams so I might read it as well!

message 29: by Jess (new)

Jess (jessiquie) Brenda! I just picked up the exact same book and was like this is what I'm starting with next month!

And also thinking about John Banville's "Ancient Light" (sorry I don't know how to link the books cover)

message 30: by Trina (new)

Trina (trina88) | 263 comments I think I might go buy a book tomorrow based solely on cover. I was thinking about buying a new book anyway!

Jess, I also don't know how to link covers here! Maybe someone can explain?

message 31: by Mish (last edited Jul 20, 2012 12:42AM) (new)

Mish | 3586 comments Ancient Light by John Banville

Jess & Trina

Click on 'add book/author' located at the top of the comments box

Type in the title of the book and then click search. At the bottom you've got the option to tick 'link' or 'cover'...tick cover

message 37: by Sabina (last edited Jul 20, 2012 01:03AM) (new)

Sabina (ms_delirium) I'm not sure what I'll pick but it will probably be from one of these:

Stormdancer (The Lotus War, #1) by Jay Kristoff Starters (Starters and Enders, #1) by Lissa Price - I purchased this the other day because I love the cover (and thankfully the blurb sounded good).
Finnikin of the Rock (Lumatere Chronicles #1) by Melina Marchetta Incarnate (Newsoul, #1) by Jodi Meadows Code Name Verity by Elizabeth Wein Switched (Trylle Trilogy, #1) by Amanda Hocking Bitten by Kelley Armstrong Seraphina by Rachel Hartman

I know I wont get to read all of them, but I will get through some of them.
I've already started reading Throne of Glass (Throne of Glass, #1) by Sarah J. Maas otherwise I would have added that. I will be reading Stormdancer next.

I've recently bought 3 books solely based on the covers. And borrowed a book from a friend three months ago based on the cover which I haven't read yet (so maybe I should).

Bought
Headhunters by Jo Nesbø Starters (Starters and Enders, #1) by Lissa Price Unleashed (Wolf Springs Chronicles, #1) by Nancy Holder

Borrowed from a friend
The Cardinal's Blades by Pierre Pevel
