"The biography of a Spaniel. Kind of a funny concept. Woolf gets into the history and breeding of Spaniels, and then on into the more speculative territory. Will be interesting to see how the rest of the story pans out." — 8 hours, 49 min ago

"Liking it so far. Was not expecting the prose to be this experimental. There are weird lapses in each paragraphs and loads of play with language. But there's an earnest intensity and lyrical flow to it all. So far, some insightful childhood vs. adulthood commentary, and how it relates to the light and shadowy friendship between Will Holloway and Jim Nightshade." — 8 hours, 55 min ago

“People dread silence because it is transparent; like clear water, which reveals every obstacle—the used, the dead, the drowned, silence reveals the cast-off words and thoughts dropped in to obscure its clear stream. And when people stare too close to silence they sometimes face their own reflections, their magnified shadows in the depths, and that frightens them. I know; I know.”

“The vastest things are those we may not learn.
We are not taught to die, nor to be born,
Nor how to burn
With love.
How pitiful is our enforced return
To those small things we are the masters of.”
