it was amazing
A much clearer picture of the story comes into focus in volume 2. Still, a really cool concept and I appreciate the art and pop culture allusions. It's a grim and sad story, but a very intriguing one.
I am looking forward to more.

really liked it
I was pretty taken with this novel. It was intense, especially the part where Jay was swallowed by a freaking whale! The metaphor for Jay's upbringing and the treatment and relationship he had with his father is pretty obvious, but I actually appreciated that connection. I was riveted with all the technical jargon, but also a little distracted with it considering I live in Colorado and have no connection to the ocean the way that Jay's father did ...more
