Anastasia should have to relinquish all Olympic medals to me for finishing this god-awful book.

First off, this book is FAR too horny for me to accept that my fifteen-year-old students not only read this (IN FRONT OF MY FACE) but also RECOMMENDED it to me- ME! Their TEACHER!

Second, this reads like someone鈥檚 fanfic of what they wish university was like. No classes, just fucking. And also, that all your boyfriend鈥檚 roommates are super chill with his Anastasia should have to relinquish all Olympic medals to me for finishing this god-awful book.

Second, this reads like someone鈥檚 fanfic of what they wish university was like. No classes, just fucking. And also, that all your boyfriend鈥檚 roommates are super chill with his girl friend and friend basically moving in and not contributing to rent. In fact, they love it! Absolutely unrealistic.

It also is very evident that this novel wasn鈥檛 planned (view spoiler). No arc seemed overarching. It seemed just like little conflicts popping up and being dealt with, many of which were never mentioned again. Along the same lines, there seemed to be so many characters that popped up and were of no consequence. Kitty? Olivia? Why did we have to hear about that athlete and how he knocked up his girlfriend and now their housemates take care of the baby so they can go to class if we were literally never going to hear about him past that paragraph? There were a ton of side characters, many of whom got too much air-time but that鈥檚 probably because they鈥檙e going to be in follow-up books.

The characters were one part that didn鈥檛 make me want to walk into the sea. I liked Nate for the most part, even though I seriously question his judgement since he is almost instantly in love with the brattiest, most immature human being in the book. Anastasia does not make sense. I don鈥檛 have the energy to outline all the reasons why, but I don鈥檛 empathize with her and that is a big problem for the protagonist of a novel. I liked Johal a lot, and out of all the unrealistically thoughtful and feminist hockey players, I think his own novel would be the most interesting. I wanted to like Henry, but I felt like the book wanted me to like him too much, and no one tells me what to do.

Overall, this book was too long and somehow both nothing and too many things happened. I usually feel a sense of relief when I finish a book I have not enjoyed, but I just feel sulky and annoyed. I feel catfished by the cute cover, and frustrated that I spent my time on this.
