To preface: I'm a huge fan of Jim Butcher. I've got a signed copy of Dead Beat, I buy all his books the week that they come out, etc.

I was looking forward to this sequel to The Aeronaut's Windlass for a long time now. But... I came away feeling like this book was just okay.

It's funny how sometimes, books come with anecdotes from our own lives. This is definitely one of those for me.

I picked up this book almost 20 years ago at a bookstore on whim, as many of us on this site do. For various reasons, it languished in my to-read pile for a long time. It stuck with me through four different moves, multiple relationships, jobs, every life change you can think of. Just waiting to be read.
