I started writing at 8 years old and when I speak to kids at schools or libraries I show them the stories I wrote as a child. I loved mystery series like Judy Bolton and Nancy Drew, and my DREAM was to write a series of my own. This happened when My Sister the Ghost was published by Avon books in 1994.

Since then I’ve been fortunate to write other series like The Seer, Dead Girl trilogy, Strange Encounters, Regeneration and Curious Cat Spy Club. I recently added a mini mystery to the Curious Cat Spy Club series titled Dog Rescue Time Warp which has a surprise ending.

I love hearing from fans and always write back. And I’ll send a spy activity packet to anyone that asks. Email link at

And I feel so grateful to writing friends who never stopped encouraging me (even after losing an agent and publisher), and also to Albert Whitman Books who published my first picture book, SNOW DOG SAND DOG 2014 and continues to publish the CURIOUS CAT SPY CLUB animal mysteries.

In 2016 I will have four books published! Amazing, isn't it? I can hardly believe my good fortune.
1. CASH KAT, a picture book that teaches counting money when cleaning up a park becomes a treasure hunt for Kat and her grandmother.
FEB 2016, Arbordale.
2. CCSC #3: KELSEY THE SPY - Kelsey's secret notebook is stolen.
APRIL 1, 2016, Albert Whitman & Company.
3. CCSC #4. SECRET OF THE SHADOW BANDIT-Moving to a cottage by a castle, Kelsey discovers a mysterious animal, a tree house & castle mystery.
OCT 1, 2016, Albert Whitman & Company.
4. MEMORY GIRL--On an island where no one ever ages or dies naturally and memories are transferred from the dead to living youths, Jennza questions her identity and risks immortality to save the killer she loves.

It's also about Albert, a 130 year old Aldabra tortoise, which was fascinating to research. CCSC #3 is all about secrets: hidden secrets, stolen secrets and revealed secrets. It's always intrigued me how you can meeet someone who seems very ordinary, only to be surprised when they reveal their secret selves. Many secrets will be revealed in the 3rd CURIOUS CAT SPY CLUB. “When are you going to tell me?â€ I held up the silver charm. “About this?â€

“It’s a horseshoe.

“Already figured that out—but why did you send it with Dagger?

“So you wouldn’t have to wait.

“Are you sure it didn’t have anything to do with interrupting my visit with Josh?

“Would I do that? he said with a wicked grin.

Of course he would, but I didn’t say that. Instead I asked him how he found the charm.”
Linda Joy Singleton, Fatal Charm

“Here I was with the guy I maybe-loved, relaxing by the ocean with salty crisp breezes and blue-gray sea curving into a for-ever horizon. We even had background music to add to the romantic ambience. And except for the "can't kiss because he's my brother" thing, this was the perfect romantic moment.”

Linda Joy Singleton, Dead Girl Walking

“What amazes me is that most days feel useless. I don't seem to accomplish anything-just a few pages, most of which don't seem very good. Yet, when I put all those wasted days together, I somehow end up with a book of which I'm very proud.”
Louis Sachar

“We are the people of the book. We love our books. We fill our houses with books. We treasure books we inherit from our parents, and we cherish the idea of passing those books on to our children. Indeed, how many of us started reading with a beloved book that belonged to one of our parents? We force worthy books on our friends, and we insist that they read them. We even feel a weird kinship for the people we see on buses or airplanes reading our books, the books that we claim. If anyone tries to take away our books—some oppressive government, some censor gone off the rails—we would defend them with everything that we have. We know our tribespeople when we visit their homes because every wall is lined with books. There are teetering piles of books beside the bed and on the floor; there are masses of swollen paperbacks in the bathroom. Our books are us. They are our outboard memory banks and they contain the moral, intellectual, and imaginative influences that make us the people we are today.”
Cory Doctorow

“How could the death of someone you had never met affect you so?”
Robert Galbraith, The Cuckoo's Calling

“I learned this, at least, by my experiment: that if one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life which he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours.”

Linda My new series, CURIOUS CAT SPY CLUB, is about 3 kids that are nothing alike who rescue 3 kittens then form a club to solve animal mysteries. I'm currently researching & writing #3, about stolen secrets and a tortoise.

Linda Hi1

Nice to meet you here. That's great you have some of my books. I've had lots of fun writing series. My most popular is The Seer series. I'm working on a new series now for middle-graders called Curious Cat Spy Club. The first one comes out in March. I'll post the cover soon when I'm allowed to.

Florence Dupuis Hey!
Thank you so much for accepting the friend request! It's so cool that you care about your fans. You are the first author here who actually accepted me, and fast at that. It mens the world too me. I actually own 12 or 13 of your books, and I love them all. Read them since I was a little girl :)Great authors make great childhood.

Linda Careers rise and dip, and lately mine has been rising.

My first picture book, SNOW DOG SAND DOG, came out from Albert Whitman in March. I sold a midgrade mystery series to Whitman called CURIOUS CAT SPY CLUB (2015). And my 2nd picture book, CA$H KAT comes out from Arbordale in 2015.

For fans of THE SEER and DEAD GIRL, there are YA books in my future too. Two small publishers have offered contracts for a science fiction YA and also a lighter magical Cinderella-meets-dogs romance. Stay tuned!

And check for covers & updates.

Linda More than anything, Ally wanted a dog, but dogs made her ACHOO!
So she built a SNOW DOG....

My picture book SNOW DOG, SAND DOG inspires kids (especially those dealing with allergies) to find creative ways to achieve their dreams. And it's all about season dogs: Snow Dog, Flower Dog, Sand Dog and Leaf Dog.

Paws to read a dog book to your favorite child: SNOW DOG, SAND DOG by Linda Joy Singleton, published by Albert Whitman/2014.

And stay tuned for news of my 2nd picture book sale: CA$H KAT.

Linda Janeen-san wrote: "What, exactly, is Dead Girl Walking about? Please respond."

DEAD GIRL WALKING is about 17 year old Amber who has such a bad sense of direction that after a near-death experience, she makes a wrong turn and lands in the wrong body -- of a popular, gorgeous, rich girl who just attempted suicide. Then Amber races against time to return to her real body before it's too late. THis is romantic, funny and a little mysterious, too.

Janeen-san What, exactly, is Dead Girl Walking about? Please respond.
