Roamers by Francesco Verso
"The Roamers is a unique dystopian fantasy. A true ‘what could happen story of humanity's future.

This story is full of heart with a real foundation in family, both biological and ‘found. Both Francesco Verso and, through the translation, Jennifer De" Read more of this review »

"This is a book of humor, grace and beauty. Launching from the concepts explored by Phil Dick in Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? (from whence comes the word "kipple," meaning useless garbage), this book explores transhumanism as a means, perhaps " Read more of this review »

Quotes by Francesco Verso  (?)
Quotes are added by the ŷ community and are not verified by ŷ.

“The truth is never hidden. It is just difficult to accept, so we pretend not to see it.”
Francesco Verso, Nexhuman

“I learn a lot about people by spending time up to my elbows in their rubbish. Dustbins are like safe deposit boxes: they contain secrets that people had thought would disappear. By counting how many condoms they throw away, you can tell if and how often a couple makes love to each other; a girl's empty perfume bottles will tell what to send her as a gift; discarded tickets from venues and shows tell you where to take them on a date; if you make a note of all the creams someone uses, you'll find out just where their insecurities lie.

Tell me what you throw away, and I'll tell you what you are.”
Francesco Verso, Nexhuman

“I know that life is a dark experience we spend our lives trying to give meaning to, a puzzle without instructions we have to solve as fast as possible. It's not so different from love ...”

“Choose a life. Choose a job. Choose a career. Choose a family. Choose a fucking big television. Choose washing machines, cars, compact disc players and electrical tin openers... Choose DSY and wondering who the fuck you are on a Sunday morning. Choose sitting on that couch watching mind-numbing, spirit crushing game shows, stucking junk food into your mouth. Choose rotting away in the end of it all, pishing your last in a miserable home, nothing more than an embarrassment to the selfish, fucked up brats you spawned to replace yourself, choose your future. Choose life... But why would I want to do a thing like that?”
Irvine Welsh, Trainspotting

“Love binds, and it binds forever. Good binds while evil unravels. Separation is another word for evil; it is also another word for deceit.”
Michel Houellebecq, The Elementary Particles

“The world outside had its own rules, and those rules were not human.”
Michel Houellebecq, The Elementary Particles
