Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ asked Greg Githens:

How do you get inspired to write?

Greg Githens I generally don’t have a problem generating ideas. I’m always noticing interesting things and asking myself whether others would find those things interesting as well.

My biggest challenge, as an author, is in the curation of knowledge for the audience. I continually struggle to find the right amount of nuance and depth. Some members of the audience don’t want a deep dive into the weeds of a topic. Yet, some feel cheated and might complain about superficiality.

So, I feel that an important author responsibility is being a curator of knowledge. I’ve found it a useful analogy to study more closely museums and their exhibits. What has been chosen to exhibit? How much explanatory detail is provided? What is the narrative and theme?
