If Wilde's mom (Sofia) is the sister of Silas & Vicky's mom (Shirley in the nursing home), then Wilde, Silas & Vicky are all first cousins and Peter is Wilde's second cousin. Sofia is in the old picture because she's the younger sister of Vicky & Silas' mother.

I figured out the parentage of each but am still confused. At the book's end, Wilde and Hester are talking and he shows her an old picture that Silas had. It was taken in the 70s showing three girls in the background. Hester says....mom, right? and Wilde says yes. So was that Sofia in the picture with Kelly and Vicky? If so how can that be?

They had a great grandparent in common, if that helps. It doesn't help me though.

Thank goodness you asked! I've missed a few Harlan Coben books, including the prequel to this one, and loved reading it (getting back into a Harlan Coben was like putting on comfy old slippers, only there's something in the bottom of one that makes you wriggle a bit too... ) but also thought I'd totally missed something here.
