This book was absolutely incredible and depicted the more emotional aspects of the fight for justice and the more hidden and darker aspects of rebellion not often spoken about! I absolutely loved every moment in our main characters perspective as she navigates this dangerous undercover situation as well as the complicated feelings that arise throughout her time. I also really enjoyed how this talked about women’s contribution to war and how oftentimes they go unrembered or underappreciated. I think this book is such a fresh take on the war aspect in books and would love to see more of it in books.

Powerless felt like a mashup of several other YA fantasy books with a twist to them and while I can definitely see similarities in Reckless, there’s enough difference for it to work. I thoroughly enjoyed watching Paedyn and Kai throughout this book and the additional Kitt POVs throughout their journey added both mystery and context for back in Ilya (and pain). The twist at the end was something I predicted but still had my jaw dropping.

That very specific brand of daddy issues and subsequent fear of attaching yourself to new people, places, or ideas as well as her general responses to the events in going on, it felt like a self insert honestly. This is by far my favorite Emily Henry book and I doubt anything will top it. This is probably a top read in general for the year and overall.

I needed sufficient time to process everything I just read and honestly I don’t think I will ever be over this book, this series, this world, these chI needed sufficient time to process everything I just read and honestly I don’t think I will ever be over this book, this series, this world, these characters, THEM!!!! I finished this around 7pm and have just been nonstop thinking about it. I could not have asked for a more perfect conclusion to Evangeline’s story with pieces being woven in from the previous books and even callbacks to the Caraval series. I was feeling so many emotions reading this book: I was raging, giggling, sobbing, confused, and everything in between. There are now moments in both series that have entirely new interpretations. This series will most likely leave me in a serious book hangover because I genuinely can’t think of anything else. This is my Roman Empire!!! This is my favorite book of the year and I cannot imagine any book topping this in the next few months. I will probably end up updating this review again with more proficient thoughts but I just wanted to share my love for this book. Infinite stars!!!
