Week 1: Spot 9

How it fits - Set in California
Review
I loved this book, it has the perfect mix of everything I look for in a good book. A feisty female lead, an attractive alpha male, and best of all strong friendships forged over food and conversation, it is a book full of sweetness. I was attracted to the book as I love the 1950's and love my vintage dresses. I started reading last night and had finished it in 3 hours.
Surprisingly, there are so many elements within the story, betrayal, loss even war. I will definitely be looking out for book 2, Fleur and Austin's story (I'm presuming) looks set to sizzle!

I'm not used to such a non chatty group. :)"
I have had to bookmark the page as I get so many notifications I keep missing these. If they are anything like me Denise, the have too many challenges, too many books :) I need more hours in the day.

Yeah I checked it out briefly looks quite complicated! I guess from the message I saw it is getting slightly heated lol :)

Week 1: Spot: 9

Death by Devotion by Jaden Skye
Date Read:21/07/16
Rating: 3*
How It Fits: #9 Caribbean Murder Mystery
Review:
I read the 1st in the series a few months back and have now jumpedin with this one. I do feel I should read the books in between as I feel there is definitely some history between the MC's. This follows the story of Cindy as she investigates the death of her ex - boyfriend's daughter's Stepfather, yes complicated!, in order to get said daughter released from jail. There was plenty of plot development and character development in the book, however I was left feeling a little cheated as the author seemed to race to get all the loose ends tied up. This is a series I will probably come back to as it is a quick read but unlike yge author I'm in no hurry.

Your cut off is Friday 11:59pm.
Captain, I would probably require people to tell me their book selection by Tuesday. It would suck if someone didn't post their selection and then they ended up reading the wrong number or the page number didn't meet the requirements etc

Week 1: Spot 9

Lola and the Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins
Date Finished: July 22
Rating:
How it fits: Set in California
Review: I didn't really like this one as much as I did the first book in the series. I did like how Anna and Etienne were in this one, so we still got to see some of things going on with them since Lola and Anna work together. I liked how this time Lola already has a boyfriend and her ex comes back. It was an interesting read. I just didn't like it as much as the first book, so I couldn't rate it as high as that one.

I wasn't keen on this one either when I read it, I love the first book.

We rolled a 6, which brings us to spot 15.
Book 1, 5, or 15 in a series, or alternate good reads choice awards list.
Can we try to get our planned books posted by Sunday, with a check in by Tuesday, and maybe we can earn the free spin by getting our reviews in early? What do you think?

I will check in on Tuesday if I haven't finished by then, I tend to inhale Nora Roberts books however.
Happy reading ladies :)

I haven't managed to pick that one up yet. I see it talked about a lot on youtube when I watch people's favorite contemporaries or summer reads. It seems like a good book, I just have so many others to finish. I've realized I've started over 47 series and I've only finished 1 whole series. It would have been two if Kiera Cass didn't add more books to the selection series. I got lucky last year and was able to read the first 3 books in that series in three straight weeks during SS and then the month after I finished there was book 4. SMH

I bought this for my birthday when it came out, I've been waiting for a chance to read it.

I've read that one! Really liked it. I didn't know she made a series out of it. It sounds more like a set of books with the same theme but they sound yummy!

Review:
This would have been a full 4 stars if the secondary romance wasn't so bad. It's been tradition for this series to include a smaller secondary romance story, but this one was rushed and didn't really make any sense. Almost like a different person wrote it... or the author realized after finishing the book she forgot a second romance so threw it together at the last minute. What's a bummer about that is that the main romance was one of her better ones. I really enjoyed the banter between the MCs and how they got to know each other. Their chemistry was off the charts as well. Very yummy. This is the last in the series and I'm a little sad to say good-bye to the Rogues ;-(

I am 65% into this week's book and should be finished by this evening. I am currently listening to the audiobook version, enjoying it but not as much as other books by the author.

Week 2: Spot 15

Vision in White by Nora Roberts
How it fits - Book 1 in a series
Review
I had really high hopes for this series, and I have been left so disappointed. Usually, I get a new Nora Roberts book and I inhale the content as I love her writing style. The characters are usually really easy to fall head over heels in love with, not this time however. The female characters Mac, Parker and co, seemed to be really feisty and I was looking forward to reading about their story but that didn't happen. I thought with being set around the girls running a wedding company in the perfect local, it would be full of romance and humour but, I just couldn't see the stark between Mac and Carter who has professed to love her all his life.
I will carry on reading the rest of the series however as I have set myself a personal challenge to read all the Nora Roberts books at some point. Here's hoping the next book is better.

Review: I enjoyed reading this book. I loved the tale between the two sisters, Claire and Sydney. You have two sisters that are going through some dark times, but you get to watch them bond and move to a happier place in their lives. There's Claire who is afraid to let anyone in because she feels that they will only leave like everyone else in her life has. Then there is Sydney who always does the leaving to avoid being hurt. I loved watching two women get to know each other in ways that they hadn't as children growing up together. I looked forward to reading the last book in the series, which I think only has two books. So that would be a completed series for me if I manage to read it. Hopefully when we roll this week, we'll land on a space that will allow me to read it.

This was a quick read, once I got into it. It was rather predictable, but I enjoyed it. I really related to Molly, other than financially. Torn between what she should feel and what she does feel. I look forward to reading the other books in the series.

Week 2: Spot: 15

15th Affair: (Women's Murder Club 15) by James Patterson
Date Read:27/07/16
Rating: 4*
How It Fits: #15 Women's Murder Club
Review:
This is the 15th in this long running series and it didn't disappoint. This book focused more on Lindsay and her relationship with Joe. A series of events follow the discovery of 4 bodies at a hotel which leads her down a path where she questions her relationship with Joe. It was good to see a more vulnerable side to this tough ass cop while she struggled with juggling her role as a mother, and hunting down the killers and searching for her husband who has gone missing at the same time as a material witness. Coincidence or something more? As ever we are left wanting more and I can't wait for the next installment

I really enjoyed the book. From the moment I started it, I knew how it was going to end. The fun was in finding out how they would get there. I'm looking forward to reading the other books in the series. I loved how they gave little nods toward the other books.
