I love Mercy! And the narrator for that series is amazing. She also narrates the Charley Davidson series( First Grave on the Right (Charley Davidson, #1) by Darynda Jones ), which is amazing on audio.

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 5588 comments That's why I don't normally do the BOM. I just want to read at my own pace, which is usually much faster than the group time table. But it does count for some extra points if you read the book and just make a comment or two. When you use the audio version, it's not so easy to just go back and refresh your memory to answer a question either.

Halli | 500 comments Looks like something happened to the spreadsheet. All of a sudden our points have dropped to 7k and we're in 15th place.

message 454: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 5588 comments It shows us having 9005 pts and in 7th place now.

I'll be finishing up 2 or 3 books in the next couple of days. None are worth a lot but they're something.

Alexa Carver (alexacarver) | 195 comments Halli wrote: "Looks like something happened to the spreadsheet. All of a sudden our points have dropped to 7k and we're in 15th place."

For some reason the spreadsheet stopped updating on it's own for almost a day, but it's fixed itself now. We lost power yesterday around the same time and those two things shouldn't be related at all but they may be, I have no clue.

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 5588 comments Wow, no posts since Thursday. Everyone must have had a busy weekend.

Tammie | 4177 comments I just finished book #1,000!...been reading up a storm since I retired from my 'career job'. Still working...but it doesn't get most of my time like it used to.

message 458: by Lulu (new)

Lulu (lulufritz) | 285 comments Hi everyone. I should be finished with a book today and another tomorrow. I got busy toward the end of last week and didn't really have a weekend.

message 459: by Heather (new)

Heather | 529 comments I did have a busy weekend and didnt read as much as Id have liked but this week I have several books to read. I am one of the final teams on the Amazing Book Race (if you know it) and we want to win it now that we've gotten to the final leg! So, LOTS of books, hopefully!

message 460: by Lisette (new)

Lisette (illusie) | 2 comments Internet wasn't working for a couple of days, but I'm back online now.

I am now home again and for now will read easy reads until my jetlag isn't bothering me so much anymore. It's already going better :)

Congrats!

message 462: by Alexa (new)

Alexa Carver (alexacarver) | 195 comments I feel like it's been forever since I've updated the spreadsheet, but it's updated now! I haven't had time to read at all over the weekend, yesterday, or today but I'm hoping I'll have more time the rest of this week. This weekend is my sister's graduation party on Saturday and her birthday on Sunday, so I know I won't have a lot of time then. I'll check in when I can this week and hopefully I can finish a book or two!

Alexa...I hope your celebrations go well.

FYI one of my books is a BOM The Hate U Give
I participated in all DQs...didn't get to write them though.
Thanks

Lisette (illusie) | 2 comments I forgot the BOM for The Gunslinger has already started. Is anyone reading this book at the moment?

I have now finished the book and didn't like it. This is the second book I've read by Stephen king. I don't think this author is for me.

Lisette (illusie) | 2 comments BOM of the month for july

2nd july - The Woman in Cabin 10
12th july - Traitor's Blade
22nd july - Flame in the mist

I have volunteered for DQ's The Woman in Cabin 10 and Flame in the Mist. But I only did so because it gives us points. If there is someone who really wants to do the questions, than I'll be backup instead.

Lusie...I'm reading it...don't like it much either. I'm delayed with posting as I don't have access to computer...just phone/iPad...not easy for posting long reviews.

message 467: by Mary X (last edited Jun 25, 2017 04:46AM) (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 5588 comments I started the Gunslinger. It's slow for me to get into it but I plan to persevere because it's my boyfriend's favorite series. He's busting at the gut to discuss it with me. I do plan to comment on the thread soon but I want to get a little further into the book.

I didn't like the Woman in Cabin 10. I kept hoping the heroine would fall overboard and drown. (I read it before it was chosen as a BOM so I can't get us bonus points)

message 468: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 5588 comments So most of my reading for my class now has been online. I haven't been able to find any books to read for the class and get us points. My foot has also been bothering me and my walking has slowed down. Time to go back to the podiatrist and hope I don't need another foot surgery. Don't ever get your barefoot caught under a door. At the time I thought it was a minor injury but I really messed the insides of my foot and have already had one surgery.

message 469: by Lisette (new)

Lisette (illusie) | 2 comments lol Mary. Must have been a very annoying character.
I hope I'll like the book though.

Sorry to hear about your problems with your foot. I hope no surgery is needed.

message 470: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 5588 comments Yeah me too.

So the Gunslinger has picked up a pit. I went kayaking 45 minutes away and made myself keep listening. But I don't like Roland, the Gunslinger much after a certain event.

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) | 6264 comments Ugh I've had a terrible cold since Friday so have slept most of the weekend. Will dig into The Gunslinger tonight

What was the other one Lusie?

The first gunslinger was written in a very dry style that wasn't his norm. Depending on his book, the writing style can change

message 474: by Lisette (new)

Lisette (illusie) | 2 comments Erin, the other book was Carrie

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) | 6264 comments Lusie wrote: "Erin, the other book was Carrie"

I didn't like Carrie either but it seems we aren't in the norm since many seemed to like it. Loved the original movie by Brian DePalma though.

message 476: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 5588 comments I just answered a set of question in the BOM discussion for Gunslinger. I'll likely read it at my own pace and not answer anymore but at least we'll get points for that when I do.

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) | 6264 comments Just answered my set of BOM questions as well

I had to leave work early because of this cold so may be able to get some reading in today with other books (done with gunslinger) if my dizziness coorperates >:(

message 478: by Tammie (new)

Tammie | 4177 comments I didn't really care for BOM The Gunslinger but I'm finished too! When I read things I don't like...it really slows my reading down. Consolation is BOM points...but I would have probably finished an additional book...so 'same same'.

message 479: by Heather (new)

Heather | 529 comments Ugh, I hope you feel better soon Erin. :(

Thank you Heather, me too! So over being sick

message 481: by Victoria (new)

Victoria | 1132 comments I had a plenty of time to read this past week, but not a lot of access to the computer so I just updated my weeks books on our read shelf.
I also finished The Stand by Stephen King , which was AMAZING! I loved it and worth the 1153 pages (I also like getting all those points).

As a result I am really excited to start The Gunslinger, which I plan on beginning tonight.

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) | 6264 comments Thanks, all. I am actually feeling much better this morning - crossing my fingers it holds

message 485: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 5588 comments I got this special sock thing to wear for a while each day to help with my foot. Plus a shoe insert thing. Hopefully between the 2 my foot will start hurting less. It already feels better just from cutting back on walking for a couple of weeks. But I want to get back to that because for one the dog needs those walks or she's a spazoid and I need them to lose weight.

message 486: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 5588 comments Minor setback on the Gunslinger. The Disc 3 is very bad and keeps skipping. The audio and ebook versions have long wait lists at all my libraries but I can pick up a print copy and hopefully the later discs won't be so bad.

message 487: by Lulu (new)

Lulu (lulufritz) | 285 comments Are you liking the audio version so far?

message 488: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 5588 comments I'm enjoying now that I'm over the narrator also reading the Walt Longmire books.

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) | 6264 comments Hope your foot feels better

I am feeling better from my cold, but as of yesterday my right ear clogged up and it's so irritating!

I got lucky with my copy of gunslinger since my roommate happened to have picked up a free copy a few months ago.

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) | 6264 comments I didn't get BOM points for The Gunslinger on the spreadsheet. What do I need to do? I linked to my questions when I answered them.

I'm missing BOM points for 2 books...I think Alexa is just behind...I haven't heard if there is something else I need to do either.

Yay, Lusie! I plan on reading that one too! It sounds really good.

I am sure this has been answered somewhere already so I apologise for asking but when you read a BOM you get 20pts, Do you still get the page points too?

We get 20 bonus points for participating in BOM discussion...in addition to our page points. IF we write Qs there are even more points. Yeah Lusie...for next book she's writing Qs!

Lisette (illusie) | 2 comments Thanks everyone! I'm lucky to be chosen to write DQ's.

What's everyone's favorite book they've read for TT so far?

My highest ratings so far have gone to:
The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas ...a BOM
Redwood Bend (Virgin River, #16) by Robyn Carr Sunrise Point (Virgin River, #17) by Robyn Carr ...love this series...and I finished it...which is very gratifying actually.
