I am so very sorry for your loss, Kathy. Take all the time you need. I understand completely. I lost my mom and brother during the last game. Take time for yourself and allow yourself to grieve. Keeping you in my heart.

Thank you so much Moondance...and my condolences for your loss.

Great choice, this is where I finally felt at home with the complex world building...

Review:
A fabulous continuation of the series enhanced by the impeccable narration of Khristine Hvam. I love the complexity and the detail of Faith Hunter's descriptions. She brings visual life to every scene. The dual personalities of Jane and Beast continue to stun. Previously Jane has felt responsible for many things beyond her control, to the extent that it became annoying. I was pleased to see this aspect was mostly absent. My only regret is that I have so long to wait for the next installment.

I am so in love with this series and these characters. Great writing and world building. Full of action and the growing chemistry between Kate and Curran is off the charts. This has been my favorite book in the series thus far. Kate continues to be fierce and loyal and a bad ass. I can't wait to see what unfolds between her and the Beast Lord.

I'll have to look at the shelves for this week. I don't think I planned a book for this shelf.

Good to know. I haven't had a chance to start it yet. I hope you are doing well Kathy.

Review Holy cr*p! There was A LOT going on in this installment! I love that we now know quite a bit more about Charley and her origins. Hopefully the information she received was true and not a lie! The case Charley was working on was interesting and had some unexpected twists I did not see coming...at...all! Charley, herself, is a complex character, but I am very much appreciating how layered the other characters in this series are, as well.

Review:
The skull glared at me out of empty eye sockets.
Kate and Curran are moving along with their wedding plans.
they ask Roman, the priest of the god of All Evil and Darkness to officiate. Roland is building an enclave just outside the borders of Atlanta and kidnaps Saiman. So begins what could be an epic war.
Kate and Curran are one of my favorite couples from all genres. I love the easy repartee between them even during times of strife. The visit with Roman in the book's opening could almost be considered slapstick. You can almost hear the rim shots during the conversation.
Kate's tenuous relationship with Roland is pushed to the limits with the kidnapping of Saiman. Kate also learns that Julie is spending time with Roland as her Herald. Kate must use diplomacy(something she is sorely lacking) to prevent and all out war.
We learn some interesting things about Christopher in this installment. It explains a great deal about the person he has become.
The wedding planning is a humorous plot in the midst of angst. Kate could care less about all the frills and Roman becomes the driving force behind making things perfect.
The dreams and prophecies are leading to what I'm sure is the end of the series. That makes me sad. I came into this world a little late and now I don't want it to end.
This is a series that gets better with each book. It is one that will remain on my shelf and be read over and over. I highly recommend it!

This was a reread for me. I think I own all the paperbacks/hard covers minus the last book. It has been some time since I first started this series and read this book. Still haven't read the last book in this series.
I did enjoy my reread, even though I don't like Bill. This was a quick, fun read. Loved getting drawn back into this world. I have missed these characters and world of Bon Temps.

Good Job!! :D

Review While the general story of Frankenstein isn’t new to me, the actual text is. This is a very classic monster story and I remember learning about Mary Shelley and her husband, Percey, in one of my college lit courses. Overall, this was a great book. I had some issues with the repetitive nature of certain words, but the story itself was solid. I found myself stunned at how cruel and uncaring Victor was of his creation. He spends his time lamenting all he has lost, but never once stopped to consider the irreparable damage he caused this creature that did not ask to exist, much less be deformed. The idea that in our world science moves at the speed of light and could, possibly, lead to a discovery such as this frightens me. Hopefully, scientists will leave the dead to their peaceful rest and continue their work to help the living.

Review:
A Jane Austen classic first published in 1817. Naive Catherine Moreland 's girlish fantasies cause her to imagine that real life is a mirror of what she reads. Catherine on arriving at the Abbey during a storm scares herself with her lurid imaginings. Although Mr Tilney is rather a lack lustre hero, his love for Catherine is steadfast and a calming influence. This story is a delicious satire of the heroine's love of gothic novels, in particular The Mysteries of Udolpho. A book which I am even more intrigued to read.

Review:
The leather-bound volume was nothing remarkable.
Diana Bishop comes from a long line of powerful witches. She tries to suppress her magic and lead an ordinary life. Everything changes once she opens Ashmole 782, an ancient manuscript. Suddenly, witches, daemons and vampires are noticing Diana. A centuries old vampire, Matthew, becomes particularly enthralled with her.
I had heard so much about this book that I wanted it to be a solid 5 star read. It started out rather slow and I found myself rereading certain chapters to see if I had missed something. The plot picked up at about the halfway point for me so that it was easier to read.
I'm afraid that one distraction was that I kept comparing it to Twilight in my mind. I'm not a huge fan of that series and I could feel the disappointment as I continued to read.
Diana started out as a strong independent woman and became a bit of a passive mess once Matthew was in the picture. That annoyed me tremendously.
I did enjoy the historical information and the distinction of the four classis of humanoids.
I enjoyed some of the quirky things that happened like the yoga class for witches, vampires and daemons. I really appreciated that the Bishop house was a character on its own.
The cliffhanger ending just about pushed me over the edge. I understand the need to set up for the next book, but please give me a little closure.
I imagine that I will read the next book just to see where it leads. It won't be any time soon.

Review:
I first discovered I was trash three days before my ninth birthday-one year after my father lost his job and moved to Secaucus to live with a woman named Crystal and four years before my mother had the car accident, started taking pills, and began exclusively wearing bedroom slippers instead of normal shoes.
Wow! What an opening! Amy Gumm lives in a trailer park in Kansas and is miserable. She deals with mean girls at school and a drug addicted mother at home. A tornado sweeps through the Dusty Acres Trailer Park and sends Amy to the wild and wonderful Oz. Or is it?
Dorothy has returned to Oz and become a power hungry harpy. Everyone is afraid of her. Her loyal friends have become monsters as well. The Scarecrow is constantly seeking new brains, the Tin Man has become a homicidal maniac and the Cowardly Lion is a terrible beast that feeds off of fear.
Amy is rescued by the "wicked" witches of Oz and trained to destroy Dorothy. The "Good" witch, Glinda is now working for Dorothy and helping to keep the citizens of Oz in line.
I felt so incredibly sorry for the poor flying monkeys. Their attempt at freedom is heart wrenching. Ozma , the true Princess of Oz has been brainwashed by Dorothy and has nothing to contribute to her land.
I found it interesting that Amy's last name is the given name of Judy Garland. Dorothy fears Amy because she sees herself in Amy. She also sees that Amy is stronger than she is and could potentially take over the kingdom.
Star, the pet rat, was an interesting side kick. Dorothy's Toto has become as bad as she is.
As in the movie, people come and go so quickly. This is not always a good thing. My grandmother read me the Oz books before I could read. This rendition caught me off guard when I first started it. It has an odd appeal to it.
I will read the next book to see where the yellow brick is leading.

Review:
I finished the first story arc of the midnight breed series that is up to book #10 when they were first published. The spin off Hunter Legacy is set 20 years after the first story arc. So with this disclaimer that I may be missing something by not having read the second story arc I will begin. I really enjoyed Born of Darkness. I didn't quite buy Naomi's insta-love. I did like the way she used her breedmate ability. I loved Asher and his memories of an old man who accepted him without reservation. I also liked the realness of this story - bad things often happen to good people. Looking forward to Caine's story. 3.5 stars.
